I thought it was very common knowledge about selling the club shop. Everything else he said wasn't exactly groundbreaking either.

If it was the shop at Maine road it was no bigger than a portacabin anyway, lol!

Looking back it was frightening how unprofessionaly we were run and how close we came to going down the pan.I am annoyed it took years to get decent investment or an owner with money, people's ego's holding us back maybe?
The Maine Road shop was never sold, only the rights to sell merchandise was.....it was Eddie Phillips who paid around £100k a year to Swales allegedly....as soon as Franny Lee was in charge he took it back....

Re: Sunday Supplement

The selling of the shop was mentioned in the same part as the selling of SWP. So I took it to mean the shop at the Etihad guessing it was brought back seeing as the club brought in kitbag to run both stores and the online operations

Psycho revelation, if we had not sold SWP for 21 mil the club would have folded!!!
I didnt have a clue about that, new we were skint but not to that extent

I didn't know we sold the club shop to help with the debt.
Would be interesting to know who we sold it to.
Asked that very question at the last AGM and (as usual) didn't get an answer. It was the current club shop although I'm not sure what happened to it since the takeover. I only found out when going through documents at Companies House. Otherwise no one would have been any the wiser.

Certainly news to me and most people I'd imagine.

Always thought (can't remember if I read it) that that was the reason they changed the club crest, so Eddie Phillips didn't get the 'royalties' once he had bought the shop.

Didn't know about the shop at all, and it was certainly news to me that we needed to sell SWP that badly! I know we needed the money at the time and the offer from Chelsea was too good to turn down but the club would have folded. Scary.

Re: Sunday Supplement

Did you guys really not know about the shop?
I thought everyone ( or anyone with an interest in city and who go on football forums ) knew about the shop being sold, and of course the financial implications of swp sale too.
Am I being Clarkied?!
