Sunday Supplement

Re: Sunday Supplement

Barclay puts on the air of an Edinburgh sophisticate, but behind the posh Jock accent and the oh so relaxed ‘I’m the superior one’ delivery, much of what he trots out is contradictory bollocks.

He puts up City as an example of how FFP works in so far as we are trying to create a sustainable model, but in the next sentence, he thinks we need to be punished for being in breach - and thats where it ends, no review of the issue that for the sustainable model to work the team need to have a modicum of success in order to attract the best young talent to your state of the art facility, no suggestion that FFP protects the interests of the existing elite first and foremost, dismisses out of hand how FFP stops clubs like Spurs, Villa, Everton, Newcastle from ever competing at the very top in the future.

The man is a phoney.

He could actually find himself in trouble.

Said it was a fact that we were up to no good and breaking the rules.

Just a pity City will turn a blind eye to it as per usual. Don't expect a retraction from Barclay any time soon.

Can't bring myself to watch it when Paddy Barclay on. No one can shut him up when he starts and he's such a biased knob that the others just seem to shut up.
Fair to say Lescott was overpriced but let's just see what money is being asked for the English lads in this transfer window. Luke Shaw £30 million, for a teenager, it's not City that inflate the market it's the homegrown player rules that put the premium on English lads.

I can think of another player from Everton who went to a Manchester club who was overpriced. In fact he was overpriced at his buy out clause price but they decided to further overpay. I don't watch this programme so no mention of this I take it?

Moyes basically forced City to pay silly money for Lescott and that even though Lescott had told him he wanted to move.City were in a difficult position having made it clear we wanted him it would have made it so so tough for him if we had pulled the plug ( as maybe we should have done) and left Joleon at Everton with everyone knowing he wanted to leave for City.

What's all this on his twitter page? Is it a joke? Just asking as I don't know the story, but the Arab word is used in what appears to be used in a bigotry way.

Perhaps he could give us all a talk on Herbert Chapman's Arsenal's moral rectitude.
Barclay's a good reason for the Yes vote imo

Not sure he'll be moving back to Dundee in a hurry, whatever the outcome.

Which is exactly what we would do now isn't it, back then though we were seen as easily manipulated. Moyes certainly took our pants down that time albeit Joleons had a decent period at City and got the medals that he would never had got at Everton. 30 million for Shaw won't seem bad value if he spends 10 years at whichever club he signs for and improves as a player. Unfortunately, as we know with Micah who was a 20 million pound player at 18, that doesn't always happen.
