Sunderland (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

This should be seen as a very impressive result. For the number of teams that Sunderland have taken points off of, we made it look fairly breezy.

Always think reading the opponent’s forum is a good indicator after a match up, and the consensus on Ready to Go seems to be that we’re the best side they’ve faced by a country mile.

Only downside about today is that we have to face them again within a month, which is ridiculous given that we won’t have even played Chelsea yet. Much prefer a longer gap between meetings, as familiarity can lead teams to close shop.

Absolutely anyone posts negative shite in here after today's result wants fucking off.
Sunderland are this jekyll and Hyde team who turn up and you don't know what you are getting.
This result is huge especially after the Fulham match.

Super. Fuckin. City
It's been a really good week for us .... nine points from three games, you can't ask for much more than that.

3-2, 5-4, 3-0, games full of incident, excitement, drama .... top scorers in the PL, yet somehow you still get one or two misguided idiots who insist we're boring !

Rayan Cherki:

Wow fucking wow!

Love him and recognise he’s gonna drive us mad at times, but well and truly ‘up for the ride’ He’s just different than the rest…

Players like Rayan Cherki are why I watch football. Jeremy Doku, ditto.

After this week, are they still calling us boring?

Probably, we’re back to plain, old cheats again.

Nice game but still plenty of room for improvement. First half some of the crossing was just not accurate enough and it was all a little too slow. Dias' goal came just as the game was settling into frustration.

Although Sunderland did play through the middle a little easier than you'd like the defensive line was normally pretty strong and picked off the attackers as they needed the box.

Slightly frustrating game as I think we were playing a little slow to try and tempt the Sunderland defence out to press but they were pretty disciplined and sat low.

Loving Foden right now and Cherki has a very subtle change of pace that throws defenders off

Really solid game. Some outrageous skill. Commitment and camaraderie on show.
Remember that Sunderland had not lost to anyone in the top seven.
The commentator saying that we hadn't had a good start 27 seconds into the game was an utter dick - no idea who it was - but his desire for Sunderland's ascendency was slain by the two goals.
English commentary is the worst

Should have been more, worrying at times how wasteful we can be…
I understand what you say but that's the game these days. Manufactured by the prem league with wank rules., v.a.r etc. don't forget doonakebab made a great block save and they hit the post. Cherki the modern day Rodney Marsh?

Doku and Cherki are the most creative pair in the PL. Foden adding goals to his performances is a game changer. Haaland has scored just 2 from the last 15 goals we have scored in the league. We are far less dependent on him than some thought.

We need better options from the bench. Marmoush and Reijnders are good players, Khusa as well. Much more is expected from Bobb and Savinho. Think RAN will come good.

If Rodri gets over his fitness problems, we'll be a machine in the run in.

You must be fun at a party.

What does that even mean in this context? Seriously?

It's me who's fucking over the moon at Cherki's class and improvisation. It's Pep who'd rather go on about a lad who used to play for him 12 years or so ago. I love Pep but it'd be lovely to see him praise world class play when it's merited from one of our own players.

Personally I'm quite pleased about it as they are decent at home but will have a lot of players at AFCON.
