Sunderland (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

‘Where were you when you were shit?’ and ‘Your support is fucking shit’.

You can hold either view, but you can’t hold both. Either our fans are only coming because we challenge for silverware every year, or our fans aren’t coming.

3-0, and a long trip home. I can hold both of those views.

Enjoy the relegation battle. You’re used to ‘em.
We aren't tbf, as we aren't used to being in the premier league, but yes, a relegation battle we are most certainly in.

In league 1 concourse closed 40 capacity
2018/2019 average 32157
2019/2020 average 30118
2020/21 covid
2021/2022 average 30847

Championship
2022/2023 average 38,585
2023/2024 average 37,154
2024/2025 average 39,452 concourse reopens

Premier league
2025/2026 average 46,519.
Pretty much sold out every week apart from the section of seats they keep between home and away fans (which feels a little bir of a waste)

I know during the league one seasons, they closed the Premier concourse to save on staffing/costs. Opening it just the once on boxing day v Bradford to attempt to beat the league one record (on Sunderland till I die).

The concourse reopened at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
With the concourse shut, capacity was 40k

Sellouts have only returned this season.

In division 3...average was 17425, against a capacity of 29k at Roker Park.

Where were you when you were shit?

;-)

I was expecting a bit more from Sunderland to be honest. Thought they were quite poor. Surprised they are so high up the league.
I did too. It is possible they were more cautious than usual down the middle, considering both Xhaka and Sadiqi stand to get suspended for their derby v. Villa with another yellow.

Does anyone know (did anyone notice) ?

What was the banner that was brought on the pitch, and filmed in the centre circle at HT, quite a large banner with BELIEVE the only word on it ?
