Sunderland post match thread

Silva looked a bit tired and "off"

WTF? Your comment is a bit tired and off

Just my view -- he gave the ball away a number of times (unlike him) and wasn't given much room to maneuver and, as usual, was getting fouled without a whistle. I know a lot of folks here thought he was very good (dictated the pace and tempo of the game even), but I saw something different and I'm not alone. We're used to him pulling all the strings. It's not a criticism -- I think he's played an awful lot of football for a man supposed to be on his hols -- I've every confidence he's still magical. Don't lump me in with those that think we were (or he was) a shitshow today.

Fernandinho is an absolute baller. Such a shame he is the wrong side of 30 now. Hopefully got another good 4 years in him at best.

Sterling looks far more comfortable on the right and merlin showed glimpses of him old self again. At times I was too busy watching pep than the game, hands flying everywhere!

Great day around though... aren't those Sunderland fans little rascals though? One of the last to come out the stadium to be stuck driving up Ashton new Road stuck in between the convoy of Sunderland coaches. Plenty of gestures and verbals, all in good spirits though. What was surprising was that it wasn't just the 12 year olds who'd just took sexy Ed majority was 30 somethings joining in... they didn't take lightly the 2-1 sings which is always the winner.

Also fuck off moyes and sunderland celebrating their goal like it was a world cup final.

Aww, don't be like that. Please. I thought our two respective fan bases had a good rapport ;-(. I am more than happy with having Manchester City FC as my second team. Your a club who has come from a bad time. You are self made. You haven't always been the club you are now. You weren't born with that silver spoon in your mouth. I can assure you we won't score many goals this season. We have to take any tiny morsel of success when it happens. Moyes and the team hardly covered themselves in glory. This does not give me much confidence for the rest of the season.

I wasn't there and only listened on the radio but that said I thought your keeper did well and the new signings of course seemed to gel well with more to come. Nolito was mentioned an awful lot in commentary so I assume he did well. Jesus Navas I thought caused us problems.

Tbf he got 10 and assisted 14 last season for Liverpool. I'm not saying Milner is as good, but KDB isn't that much greater than Milner. Silva in his prime is what I expected with the hype around KDB but I don't see that sort of player in him. I hope I'm wrong and he puts in some cracking performances obviously.
Do you really believe that jimmy fucking Milner is anywhere near the quality of kdb...ffs mate Milner was a decent player and I've no axe to grind about him but he's nowhere near as good as kdb.
Its all about opinions but sheesh Milner if he wasn't English he wouldn't get half as much praise as he does. Kdb by a country mile is far and away the better player.

He is one of my favourite players but I got the impression the pace was all a bit too quick for him yesterday. But like you I have every confidence in him making me like a spoilt tabby.

stone v good debut, the team functional and efficient, not the most exciting game but looking at that when it fully clicks we are looking like being fantastic

Nice to see some real passion from the touchline and it looks like we actually have a plan. Hoorah!

I can't wait for the next game. Sterling has clearly got his confidence back. Kolorov played a blinder. I never felt as nervous as I did some games last season. The team were pressing constantly to recover the ball.

I also thought some of the things that were pleasing were very subtle. Pep encourages team philosophy. The team were anounced in numerical order. No superstar striker flourish at the end!
Enjoyed the team coming to acknowledge the fans/ each other at the end of the game.
