Sunderland Post Match

The half-time substitution paid off in the end but I personally would have kept Kelechi on to try and kill the game off. We were defending for the whole of the second half, created nothing and couldn't keep the ball. If they'd have scored we'd have been in deep shit. Having said all that, delighted with the win, well done Manuel!

Very very suprised at the comments on here, Not what i expect from City fans at all and i really hope that the new era of Man City hasnt made you forget how fortunate you are to have such a brilliant football team.

I find the comments about us being 'dirty' and 'vile' pretty harsh, Were a poor side who need to fight like dogs to stay up and we gave it our best shot, Unsure as to why so many of you want to see Sunderland go down. A good club with generally nice people.

I doubt any City fan wants Sunderland to go down really. Along with West Ham you're most Blues' favourite other PL team. You deserved to win last night, cos we were fucking awful, but Atwell was shite whatever you say. And having watched Balotelli (and other City players in the past) get sent off for breathing out of turn, I've little sympathy for the view that Defoe shouldn't have been carded at least once. He may not have swung his elbow wildly, but if the only way you can even get near the ball is to lead with your arm as you jump from 3 yards away, then that's reckless play and he should have been booked. Otamendi's getting a reputation for play acting, but he was right to be annoyed last night

Really poor but we fought and battled all over the pitch, 3 points is all that matters

Maybe, just maybe Pellegrini changed a few things because this wasn't to be the final game of the season. And with the ongoing injuries players simply need rest. Some more than others. Most already played a handful more games than the opponent. And will need to play many more than others. We played two games while Sunderland players watched on their telly. We had to travel on the night. We played in poor weather conditions and a poor pitch that will hurt our game more than most others. I always read about the PL being strong and all teams fear the cold windy weekly games at night. This was one of them. With Allardyce telling his players to make it a physical battle. So it wasn't as clear cut from whatever perspective you look at it. I hate these kind of games but l was as happy with the three points as the players seem to be.

By the way did you notice Liverpool and Stoke hardly putting up a fight? Last week's semi finalists ... Do you see a pattern maybe? Doubt it tbh.
What I saw was a predictable pattern which has characterised the last 2-3 seasons. Yaya in a midfield 2, Silva marooned on the left and the left back left exposed. Fat Sam predicted it beforehand and my Dipper mate was amazed I was able to predict our line up and formation to within one player as would most City fans.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, but there's no need really as I already know how many games we've played recently, who's injured etc. To illustrate this we brought on extra muscle in the midfield to help out a beleaguered Yaya and Fernandinho. It was obvious to me before a ball was kicked that we needed we needed to be strong in midfield and down the flanks because as you say, it was a midweek match in windy conditions away from home against a team desperate to avoid relegation.

If this was just a one off then fine, but this season especially its become the rule rather than the exception. We just seem to be making harder work of it than necessary and last night perfectly illustrated why. The Premier League has always been strong, none more so than this season so I don't expect any easy games, what I will say though is that with the talent available to us would you say that we have been performing to an expected level and if so where and when?
