Very very suprised at the comments on here, Not what i expect from City fans at all and i really hope that the new era of Man City hasnt made you forget how fortunate you are to have such a brilliant football team.

I find the comments about us being 'dirty' and 'vile' pretty harsh, Were a poor side who need to fight like dogs to stay up and we gave it our best shot, Unsure as to why so many of you want to see Sunderland go down. A good club with generally nice people.

I certainly don't want you to go down, you're a good club with great fans, good luck for the rest of the season.

I wouldn't be so despondent, there were glimpses last night that your new signings could come good, and quickly. The question must be whether the rest can maintain that standard against other teams on a consistent basis.

I think he over-egged the pudding and it's not something I like. I'll agree to that much. The elbow was real, but reaction over the top.

I don't agree with him at all, doesn't matter how big you are(is it really ok to assault people because they are bigger and stronger?) or how small the offending party is supposed to be(funny how Silva got a yellow for Arsenal players running into HIM and falling over... being the smallest player on the pitch that day) its foul play/against the rules no fucking elbows in the face it can cause damage because its hard bone and lets be fair Defoe is a grown man lets stop making excuses for it.

Even though it didn't appear to do any damage to him it may have hurt enough to distract him leaving the back line vulnerable and everyone would point the blame at him if it resulted in a goal, hows that fair? Don't give the ref a chance to start letting that go or it can cost you, he was right to make a fuss IMO. Infact I was glad to see some of our players giving some back we've started to be to nice because of how biased the refs are, this season more than most I've noticed the impact questionable refereeing is having on the team.

I was with a Red Dipper earlier and was saying that as soon as I saw the line up in Saturday, I knew we'd beat Villa well but I predicted that Manuel would revert to type tonight and we'd struggle.

I even bet him a quid I could predict the line up, but I lost as I didn't see Nacho for Sterling coming but I got everything else correct even down to Yaya again in a midfield two against a fired up Sunderland away. If I can guess this, so will professional managers with all the technological assistance they have to aid them.

After he confirmed the line up and formation, I went on to say to the Dipper that Fat Sam would swamp the midfield and target Yaya and also hit Clichy as he would get no protection from Silva. Individual brilliance from Hart and Aguero saved us again, but I suppose the fact we've gone to the SOL previously, battered them and come away with a defeat goes some way to making up for the turgid display we put on tonight.

If ever there was a match that we needed the same starting line up as Saturday away to Villa (barring Aguero and Hart) it was this one. I suppose Manuel just didn't have it in him to drop one of Silva or Yaya for two matches on the trot.

Maybe, just maybe Pellegrini changed a few things because this wasn't to be the final game of the season. And with the ongoing injuries players simply need rest. Some more than others. Most already played a handful more games than the opponent. And will need to play many more than others. We played two games while Sunderland players watched on their telly. We had to travel on the night. We played in poor weather conditions and a poor pitch that will hurt our game more than most others. I always read about the PL being strong and all teams fear the cold windy weekly games at night. This was one of them. With Allardyce telling his players to make it a physical battle. So it wasn't as clear cut from whatever perspective you look at it. I hate these kind of games but l was as happy with the three points as the players seem to be.

By the way did you notice Liverpool and Stoke hardly putting up a fight? Last week's semi finalists ... Do you see a pattern maybe? Doubt it tbh.

For us it was massive. Top teams easily drop points on a night like this. We survived.
As for your team you made it into a fight. Sometimes close to the line that was drawn by the referee. I can live with a battle. Some most young generation fans can't. Whatever. I much prefer Sunderland in the PL than bloody Middlesboro. I do hope you soon get a decent manager again ...
