Sunderland Vs City Post Match Thread

I think this match also proved Pellegrini's selection regarding the Milner-Navas or Fernando-Fernandinho question (or even about the 4-3-3 vs. 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2). Milner had a great assist but his overall performance when we have the ball and are dominating the game just isn't up to Navas' level. The spaniard barely lost the ball, except the occasions when he played in a direct cross, which were actually dangerous ones. Milner, on the other hand, has lost it in his 40 minutes at least 3 or 4 times in a quite easy situation. I love Jimmy and he's a huge asset this season especially, but I think it should be clear now why Jesus is preferred.

And Fernandinho. Well, another brilliant performance from him and the 'drive' he provides alongside Yaya is just something else. While Fernando is great at covering the area in front of the centre backs and is strong in tackle, it's games likes this when we can and should do with the Yaya-Fernandinho pairing. Hopefully Fernando will get a big run out against Roma, or even against Everton.

What a result after going a goal down

And without 3 centre-backs, Kolarov, Dzeko and Silva.

That's really something to be able to go away from home missing so many players and stick 4 past the opposition

But we have to keep this going. I knew Chelsea would beat Spurs at home, but they can easily drop points away given the way they play.

Wonderful team performance, fantastic energy, pressing high up the field so much so that Sunderland couldn't get out of their half for about 20 mins in the first half.

Zabaleta's goal was sexual, the touch, close control and ball from Nasri were brilliant and the finish was delightful.

Great result for us, I thought Boyata had a great game in defence for us, the midfield was looking so sharp tonight, Aguero, Jovetic and Zabaleta took their goals well, and it was good to see Pozo get some time on the field, so well done guys..............

We're definitely getting back to our best. The team play tonight was exceptional.

Fernandinho was top drawer again. Looks like the world class midfield player we had most of last season.

Next up Everton. Potential banana skin. But if we play like we've played the last week or so we'll go into Rome flying high.
