Sunderland Vs City Post Match Thread

I seem to remember mentally slating Fernando within the first five minutes for something minor but then after that he looked very good the rest of the half.

KDB is going to need a nickname worthy of his just utter and complete awesomeness. Only one "Super Kevin" to my generation, and KDB is deserving of something original that somehow incorporates being a demonic blonde/ginger.

Gutted for the lad who missed out on the BJ with it not ending 5-0 in our favour. (Didn't read the whole match thread so I don't know how/if that was resolved for him.)

Great performance.

Delighted with the result and the fact that 'right' players scored.

Super Kev continues to delight and it was great to see Sergio and Raheem on the scoresheet again.

But the biggest thrill of the night was George Evans finally making his first-team début.

The first lad to play for City at every level; a fantastic achievement. And I believe he's the first George to play for the seniors since our title-winning centre-half and former pub landlord, George Heslop.

Unless anyone knows better.

George Weah

Sterling and KDB excellent performances, Kolarov a bit messy in the first half, Serg needs to get back up to scratch - feel bad for him.

Good match all in all and hope we smash the Spurs on saturday.

So, panic over
A classic case of kids not being ready for the big leagues............yet
mackems looked like a high school football team
otto looks like he still has some learning to do also
onwards & upwards

How did Roberts look?
I thought he looked good; you could tell from watching him play that he's had senior football experience. Came on with plenty of time on the clock, looked to be involved for the first ten minutes or so. He was tidy with the ball in possession, got forward a few times taking up good positions and going at the defense when he had the ball at his feet. He probably could have done more in terms of taking on his defender but he was only one-on-one once so I wouldn't fault him for his decision making.

My my only criticism of him would be that he let his energy drop for the last five or so minute of the match. In his defense, the senior players around him had already dropped their level of effort so he was most likely following their lead in that. Overall a good debut for the lad.

Sergio had this patchy form before, and then speculations of him leaving came about, which was of course not true. He just seem to lose his tempo every now and then. He did wax lyrical of the change in his diet that led him to being the lean goalscoring machine last season. Maybe that changed preseason.

Not sure what some people want with some of the posts on here. 4-0 up away from home in a Cup tie after 35 minutes and half the team are crap? Give over!

Great first half, with Fernando and de Bruyne impressing in particular. OK, we didn't go on to make it 8 in the 2nd half, but the game was over. Shame we conceded (looked off side to me from up high in the stand) but all-in-all, job done. And three youngsters on at the end was a definite bonus.

Was interesting hearing the Sunderland fans on the Metro on the way home. Real doom and gloom, they sound like they've given up on staying in the Premier League already, although I felt a certain sympathy for them paying good money to watch such a confused-looking team.
