I've got a bad feeling about Sunday. Bogey team, plus half of our star players missing.

If we have to play Lescott and Demichelis at the back, have they ever played together? And perhaps no Fernandinio to protect them?

We should have the quality to easily beat Sunderland, but I will be very relieved if/when we come away with the 3 points.
We're missing 1 (yes just ONE ) definitely of the team that has recently been ripping other teams new ones. Admittedly it is Merlin but to say half of them missing?
Grow a pair.

I don't need "a pair" mate, I am not fighting on the street.

I am just saying I am a little worried about our trip up north that's all. We have lost our last three up there you know.

We should be OK of course, but we should have been OK last season as well and we came away with nowt, again.

He's right to be cautious ..... we have turned up at Sunderland before with full strength , or depleted line ups , only for some strange reason , to have performed 'indifferently' up there ..... as many bad results for us up there , as good ones , if not more , and it's hardly mattered that Sunderland at times have hardly been any 'great shakes' themselves when we've visited them !

They are looking to kick start their season , look like they'll have players returning from injury , whilst we will have very important players missing , and their manager , players , and crowd , will take that as a definite positive ..... all the signs of an upset are clearly there even before we turn up.

It IS a winnable game for us , yes ....... but only if we approach it correctly , work our socks off , and do the right things .... in other words remain completely focused on getting all three points.

Hart, Kompany, SIlva, Jovetic and maybe Fernandinho and Nastasic. That's some very big misses, particularly Silva who makes us play

But we should still beat them. Milner can come in for Fernandinho, and potentially Lescott for Nasty. Lescott on the left is OK.

It will be counter-attack v defence, and we should win, but you can'ttake it for granted. Sunderland have improved under Poyet with 2 successive home wins and they lost 1-0 with 9 men to an og at Hull.

There are easy games, but you never know where they will be, and sometimes the weaker teams turn out to be the toughest because you go there at the wrong time eg Cardiff away.

Spot on ......

only hard work will win the day , if we allow ourselves to be out-fought , or dominated , we'll come a cropper at Sunderland ...... like Cardiff and Aston Villa before them , all this type of team does is seemingly put in that 'little bit more effort' than they usually do on the day!

Man for man we have better players than Sunderland , i doubt even they themselves would deny that .... but we have to match them in other ways or it won't count for anything.

We have already lost two away games undeservedly ...... at Viilla we were much the better side , but lost focus to very poor oppostion ..... and in reality we were probably the better side at Chelsea too , but one moment of sheer madness saw us lose the game ..... however , aside from very isolated patches of the game at Cardiff , we were awful.

You wouldn't expect serious title challenges to have come unstuck in three games quite this early in the season , as we (and the rags for that matter) have with our losses ....... and we can't keep adding to it , that's for sure !

Couldn't have put it better.

We SHOULD win, but if we don't give it 100% effort and focus, it has banana skin written all over it.

Forget "bogey" teams. We beat Arsenal on their own turf last season, so that was the end of that myth. We've recently beaten Everton comfortably at the Etihad, so that's despatched, I hope. We're on a roll, in case nobody's noticed. We've won *six* of our last seven matches, all competitions taken into account, and the one we lost we were excellent in, choosing to press the self-destruct button right at the death. Even with Silva out, I cannot see us not taking command of this in midfield - Sami is on fire at last, Yaya is… well, Yaya. I wouldn't mind seeing Rodwell in for this, if Ferny's not quite right. With a dose of bestiality up front, we could even afford to rest Sergio and bring in Dzeko. But whatever, I cannot see how us not winning this, unless someone completely cocks up at the back (possibility this season, admittedly).

Whilst i am a bit worried that Dzekos lack of chances will only see his frustration grow , our best chance of actually winning at Sunderland could well be in the excellent 'understanding' that Aguero and Negredo appear to have , both spanish speaking players .... their partnership up front has apparently 'out-scored' even the likes of strike partnerships at all of our rival clubs.

Sunderland will not be able to rest if these two start the game.

We should play Kun & Negredo and let them do their damage then bring them off after the game is put to bed.
These two would shred Sunderland's defence!
I'll be dissapointed if they both don't start.
