Is this even news? Been picked up by loads all over Social media yet it was announced back in May 2021 so doesn't seem like the breaking news it is made out to be?

What the fuck is this? :-|

"Slots three and four: Awarded to the two clubs with the highest club coefficients that have not qualified automatically for the Champions League’s league stage, but have qualified either for the Champions League qualification phase or the Europa League/the Europa Conference League (due to start in the 2021/22 season)."

This is what the Sky 4 teams we displaced wanted all along. Near enough guaranteed qualification based on their UCL istree... :-/
 
I think the league idea is far better than the groups myself, where a team like united can be crap but scape through against weak teams. Plus playing the same 3 teams twice can get boring.
Not a fan of the extra places for 2 clubs with highest co efficient but I guess thats in their to head off the breakaway.
Big changes some good some bad, but could have been worse.
 
Co efficient qualification for the history clubs. A disaster for domestic leagues,so United could finish 7th/8th and leapfrog the team in 5th. So if it was implemented before this season their games at the moment would be literally irrelevant as they’ll qualify anyway!…farcical!

That was announced last year, yes. Just came back in the news as the ESL says it has ditched the least popular part of their original proposal, guaranteed places for history clubs. Funny that.

Now some talk that UEFA will also ditch that part of the new CL format (it's not finalised yet, afaik).

Let's not kid ourselves. It was the history clubs who were pushing for that in the first place, so it's a little disingenuous for people to be saying the ESL is better than the CL now, after they dropped it.
 
The new CL Format sounds stupid.

There will be more meaningless Matches and more matches like City vs Brugge where we dominate 99% of the Possesion and end up winning by 4 goals.

Also the 9-24 Place battle sounds disgusting , a joker card for clubs to qualify.

In the end we will face more Injuries
