Superman!!

From what I heard at the time, the Doyle/Hunt stuff is true, and it happened when Dunne was suspended.
The Gran stuff I read at the time indicated that SI's gf lied to him in the first instance, and then he lied to protect her after he found out the truth.

IrishMacca, you need to remove that chip from your shoulder, I think you can forgive SI for walking away from International duty. Good riddance.

no body on this forum knows what happened apart from blue2112 some belive the rumours of doyle and hunt some belive he just doesnt wanna play i couldnt realy give a fuck either way if he comes back to ireland and gets us into the world cup brill we'll have 3 more city player in the wc and si can preform on one of the biggest stages in football. if he doesnt come back fine he'll be fitter for city.

You know, that's funny, because I could have sworn that Ireland himself, in the article posted here, didn't say anything of the sort. No one has. And Irish tabloids. I can vaguely remember seeing it come up once or twice at the most ages ago. And I've seen a lot of bullshit a hell lot more times then that come up in those papers. And by the by, what you read in the papers, and here's the important part, isn't always true. I know, I know, shock horror, but they tend to spin the odd story from time to time. It's awful.

In truth, an awful thing happened, he was young, he made a mistake by lying to the press, but he was young. That I can take, that I understand and accept. But it's what happened after that..he dug himself a hole, got embarased, and simply walked away when it got hard. Turned his back without a bother or an apology, no one would have cared if he came back after that, there would have been a bit of banter for about a week with Irish fans and such but it would have been forgotten in a few days, but no. It got hard and he just simply, with no thought for anyone else, with no consideration for his teammates or the fans, or clearly pride in the jersey..etc He simply just walked away.

So you're 100% sure of everything that happened at the time then are you? You have inside knowledge of what's gone on behind the scenes and the thought processes of Mr Ireland, and the discussions and soul searching that went on between himself and his family and friends? I'm putting question marks at the end of these sentences as a courtesy, and it's probably grammatically correct, but these are rhetorical questions because I'm pretty sure that the answers to all three are 'no'.

I get the feeling from your post that you care a lot about your national team and that your hurt by Ireland's perceived abandonment of it, but are you not just venting your frustration on what you're guessing happened with no facts to back it up. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I know him, I knew him as a child, I know people who know him now as an adult, I grew up not far from where he did. Now what I know, what I've heard from pretty reliable sources I'd take as fact more then what I hear from a few City fans. But you talk about fact.
Ireland has said nothing about any hair pulling crap, anywhere. He says the reason he didn't go back is because of the gap that grew when he left the team to go be with his partner. That in black writting is fact. Where is your fact to prove that the Dunne sorry not Dunne, no Noel Hunt, oh wait no he wasn't in the squad, no Doyle and S Hunt tried to pull his wig off. Where is your proof. Because what I've heard and what he's said, doesn't lead me to believe that that happened at all. So where's your "facts to back it up."

I was there and it was an outstanding gig, I was lucky enough to get there early enough to get a wrisband for the pit which was pure class. I thought the prodigy and kasabian both put on storming sets, keith flint came into the crowd and was rockin right where I was aswell. Was pretty impressed with the blizzards not a bad band who I can see making the jump to the u.k market soon, saw plenty of blues there too got chatting to some irish blues who were all top lads, had them in stitches when I asked some lad in a rag shirt with ronaldo on the back if it was the new real madrid away shirt lol. One question though what the feck was that mad s.a.s style yomp uphill through the woods to get in about, I was bloody fooked by the time I got there haha worth it for my wristband I suppose.
