Supermarket fuel v branded fuel ?

So how come Supermarkets are selling for up to 10palitre cheaper on 'standard' fuel? I think they must be selling a cheaper version than branded.

Its called a price war, simple economics and you will find that prices will match the going rates pretty much by area with the supermarkets under cutting the main brand forecourts by a penny or so if that.

supermarkets are allowed to use vegetable oil in diesel and methanol in petrol. it reduces the tax levy. Methanol is less powerful than petrol and also readily attracts water from the atmosphere which then causes rust problems to petrol tanks. Biodiesel has no downsides except it should be cheaper

Christ almighty lol.

Water out of exhaust pipes is normal.
A workmate usually fills his 07 plate Vauxhall combo van up with Sainsburys diesel. He recently had a problem with his van losing power. Took it to his local mechanic who said Sainsburys were known for watering down fuel, advising him to put branded fuel in. Since then he has only used branded fuel and his van is now running sweetly again.

I find syphoning petrol from the neighbours cars gives you the best 'value for money'.

I've been driving for over 30 years, a huge part of that professionally. I have never once noticed a difference in either performance or economy. Five minutes on google also tells me I'm right.

Is this a parody, nobody waters down petrol surely. Not a good mix
Isnt the real truth of it that supermarkets use a mix of loads of different blends or types of fuel that they get on the cheap, rather than the branded filling station selling one type of proper fuel? Or is that urban myth too?
