Supporters Club tickets

I have no axe to grind either way but people keep asking about how many tickets the OSC groups get and someone said (sorry I'm not going back through the thread) why not ask Kevin Parker. As far as I'm aware that question has been asked of KP at meetings. I'm not sure what the answer was but surely it should be communicated to ALL OSC groups?
Plus maybe it isn't down to KP and the OSC, maybe it is down to the club.

Surely with the OSC numbers each OSC should be given a percentage of their branch numbers e.g. if you've got 100 members and it's 5% then you get 5 tickets. Then if there are any left over they would go in a ballot?
It is the lack of transparency that bothers me (a little bit)

I remember being told when I asked the question a looooong time ago at an OSC meeting, when I was representing our branch as nobody else could make it, that in the past some Branch leaders had been asked to take extra tickets, in the days when getting tickets was easy and therefore they should get priority (not put quite as bluntly as that but I know committee speak, done it myself!!). Is this still happening?
I'm sure that city would point out that not all supporter clubs are 'equal'

If a supporters club were 'entitled' to 5% but only ever wanted tickets for old trafford, should they be treated equally with branches that ask for tickets for Wednesday night London games?

I can't imagine that how away tickets are distributed is anywhere near the top of ticketing priorities for the club purely because there is no money in it. Other than ensuring that supporters that pay top dollar for their SCs in corporate and hospitality get a decent chunk then there is nothing in it for the club.

As we are now the top club side in the world with a global superstar on board backed up by the most popular English player with young football fans then there has been a sea change in our level of support. Demand to watch us has soared (see Japan and Korea) and for the club it's the culmination of the plan since the takeover. Now it's time to leverage that interest to hugely (massively even) increase matchday revenues by reducing the overall number of SC holders, increasing matchday pricing and maximising corporate and hospitality. The least affected (for now) are current SC holders as we pay relatively little per game and it will be quite a while until the proportion can be reduced to a level the club is happy with. All other sections of our support are going to feel the financial pain unfortunately.
I'd been after a seasoncard pre-covid for about 3 or 4 years, and managed to grab one in the first season back - in the safe standing no less - and you'll be taking it from my cold dead hands. I feel very, very lucky to have it, and any away days I can get are a nice bonus. But I can't bring myself to moan too much about it all: probably about 5 or 6k - maybe even more at the minute - who want regular away day tickets that will never divide into 3k. Everyone who talks about "fairer" systems draw the lines around themselves getting more. The real battle is making sure there are decent opportunities for people to get to Eastlands at a fair price imo.

I am fortunate enough to have a huge number of points, I have never understood why a rolling points system hasn't been adopted, I earnt loads of points when we were taking 1/2 allocations, my sympathies lie with those younger who simply were not around to get those points, I could do just the big aways and have my place cemented forever under the present system, its created a closed shop. I deserved to go to big games in 2010 because I had earnt the right from watching crap for seasons earlier, but a rolling system would be far more fluid, and still reward my efforts, while freshening up the system
Not often you and me agree but you're spot on here.

Pre-Covid we (Coty Matters) did start to explore a rolling 5-year system and ran some scenarios to see how people would be impacted.

The biggest issue was how to manage any transition to a rolling system. Do we just take the last 5 years or do we try to maintain some differential from previous years? My suggestion was that every year the earliest 5 years points dropped off, so i'm about 5 or 6 years, we would get down to just the previous 5 years.

Another suggestion was to divide the existing points by a figure, 10, 50, 100 and start from there. So the fans with the most points still had an advantage, albeit a much smaller one.

There has to be a system that rewards loyalty while giving fresh faces a chance, I have in excess of 30000 loyalty points, but I was in the right place at the right time, albeit with a desire to be in a strong position if we ever got good, I am no more dedicated than someone 20/30 years younger. I think if we used the last 5 full seasons and started awarding loyalty points for certain games that deserve points that would be a start, not every game, but ones where the criteria drops below a certain point, so it reflects that a certain amount of effort has been made

The issue is that people with high points who before points were scrapped could get tickets for most away games (probably 15 out of 19) are now struggling to buy tickets for more than about half a dozen. I would suggest that is purely down to the club siphoning off more tickets, which is why they are reluctant to say what the splits are. Pretty sure that it was once stated as a matter of that 60% of all tickets went to points. Now we know that the 18-25 and the junior pull through allocations come out of that 60% making it only 50% available. Corporate / hospitality allocation is I think 10% someone correct me if I am wrong which leaves 30% which is split between OSC, players, sponsors and club officials, club employees, vloggers and ticket agencies. It’s a piss take which needs to be addressed but the OSC don’t want to rock the boat and the club just want to pacify those who spend the most. Seem to recall many years ago the rags kicking up a fuss as their away support was essentially day trippers who just stood there and barely fit behind the team. We are going that way as the core support is slowly being eroded. Transparency is what is required.
