It's a non story. Hydes do 50p off Monday to Thursday until 6pm or similar. My old local has been doing this for ages, although they framed it the other way and (even though they added 20p or something on to the price) said "cheaper during the week" rather than "more expensive at weekends."
I thought this. Basically the old happy hour idea turned on its head. I feel sorry for pubs, basically over the last 30 years the range / price of alcohol in supermarkets along with rocketing duty / overheads are killing them. It's a non story. The British just like to moan. Its a slow news week so someone media outlet says a pub somewhere will start charging more after 8pm. Someone starts thread on BM and 11 pages later, ok 4 we've learnt the Bigg Bigg fellah is a tight arse who drinks at home and no one else is that mithered.I thought this. I suppose the rot started even earlier when it became unacceptable to have a skin full and drive which must have done in rural pubs.

Yes you must vow that PeoffI’ve found staying in more has saved me an absolute fortune. I must vow not to become one of those tossers who bleat on about pub closures when I never used them; but there’s too many here and not enough customers.
Pubs can’t drastically reduce prices because they need to make a living.
you obviously aint been in the feathers lately! it's a fuckin asylum, me and a couple of mates walked in, looked at one another and carried on walking and out the back doorthe one in Ashton is like the bar in Star Wars.
