Surge Pricing coming to pubs

I wish they could use this to incentivize people to get back into some of the traditional pubs in and around Manchester

This was going on like 30 years ago. Nothing new to see. Usually just based on the later in the evening the more expensive as people had already had a few so didn’t notice

I think describing it as ‘surge pricing’ is a bit misleading. It’s giving the impression of an Uber type set up where the price could vary wildly from one day or even one hour to the next.

This story has come from the company who own Yates’ and Slug and Lettuce, I think. And they’re saying the price of everything is going to be 20p dearer at pre advertised set periods, when they expect to be busy.

So it’s not like you’re going to be charged different prices each round depending on how many people are in the pub.

It’s nothing new really. My local has been charging 15p a pint more on Friday and Saturdays for years. And pubs around football grounds have been doing it for decades on match days. Even at City, they charge more for concerts and when they’ve had rugby there in the past, than they do at City games.
