Survey- City v Rag rivalry

Are you the same Stephdoe86 who despite claiming to support neither Manchester team is asking for tickets for the Scum V Liverpool game this weekend on one of the utd forums?

Guys - look I appreciate everyone who is contributing to this but I think the need for some individuals to be attacking the questions really isn't needed.

The questions were based on a pilot study conducted and they are aimed at getting the answers I wanted - if you don't like the questions, simply don't answer the questionnaire, it's that straightforward.

I do have good knowledge of football and would appreciate some people to not be so patronising in what they write.

Thank you to those who have given positive support, it has only been a very small minority who have felt the need to criticise it.

Definitely something not right here.

If you do 1000 surveys of 20 questions each you can't have open ended, free text answers. You can't make any results out of it.

He's just going to look at the "Who are your rivals" question and make a stat from that - 95% of City fans will say Utd, 40% of United.

That's will be it.

-- Wed Sep 15, 2010 9:56 am --

Oops. Just read the thread and realised that these issues have been raised already.

Guys, the survey responses are playing only a small part of this research - as stated, I want open ended questions so I can draw important quotes that people have written and use them. However by no means are the survey results the full focus of the study. I will be addressing the rivalry since the clubs were formed as Newton Heath and St. Marks in the late 1800's up until the present day. Much of what you guys have done will address the present day but as evident, this will be a small chunk of a whole history!

I am also speaking to former players of both clubs and journalists - as well as those who have written books on the topic.

Whilst not taking away anything from those who have responded to the questionnaire it is a small role in a large research topic.

If you want to complete it, please do so. If you just want to slag if off, then don't worry about it - I don't want to waste your time.

However I'm unsure as to why me writing a research project, which will be published is drawing so much criticism - surely it's a good thing that people are looking into contemporary sporting issues??!! And anyone who's been to Uni will know exactly how important academic research is.
