Sustainability and our transfer plan

I think, above anything else, we need to trust our owners to make the right decisions for this football club moving forward.

I think they've more than earned that right.

For sure

I don't know about anyone else, but I actually look at the amount of money we haven't spent and get almost as excited as seeing a new player sign. It sounds a bit stupid, but for me the next adventure for our club is getting to a point where our financial losses are negligible, and the great £197m losses figure came from a season where we spent £120m on transfers. I'm itching for the new Deloitte table of how much revenue each club made over last season to come out so I can see just how much progress we've made, and I look at how we've held back this transfer window and can only see that £197m loss come tumbling down to more manageable levels. Honestly, that's the stuff that's exciting me right now.

That, and the hope of winning the league again, naturally.

disagree, if u think our owners will embrace sustainability & watch Chelsea win the PL and settle for ECL (say) q/f then u r wrong. however if NDJ isn't replaced tomorrow I shall doff my cap to you

FFP is deep rooted, in not just signings, but every aspect of the club. As you may have seen from the Etihad campus and new stadium thread they are looking at reducing operating costs and increasing revenue from all avenues. We had to spend big to gate crash the elite clubs and we have done this now, now is probably the time to embark on sustainable growth to catch up the Real's, Barca's and Rags of the football world. These are the the best of the best ( kills me to say it about the Rags) and we will get there. The Etihad Campus plans spread over 18 years from now. This again points towards organic growth and not quick fixes which, lets face it, were desperately required 4 years ago.

I still feel that someone is coming in to replace NDJ tomorrow as there is no way we would let him go without a replacement and he will be a 'bomb'. There is no way we would undo the hardwork done so far and weaken our squad, ( I may work with the club on the campus plans but I know f*** all about transfers) I just have this feeling that they will surprise us. Put it this way if I was HRH Mansour watching the draw I would have but my hand down the back of my sofa and found a spare £50m for a world class signing.

On a personal note what a great draw...see you in Madrid and Dortmond.....going to have to work on the missus for Amsterdam!

I see an easy solution here. Ditch her because she supports the wrong club, and then you don't have to get permission to go to Amsterdam.

And let my son be exposed to the dark side of the family?

Already got him singing the 2 unlimited YaYa song to his grandad....quality

I personally think they are also giving PSG and Chelsea enough rope to hang themselves. Let them test the legal side of FFP. If they get through it then blow them out of the water. If they don't then we are in a great position to take advantage. No debt and increasing turnover.

Never doubt a man who can bail out a national institution in Barclays and double hid 6bn investment in 6 months
