Met a few of them in the Corner Shop before the game, really good to chat to and they hate United nearly as much as us. One of the guys even said they'd have more possession than us, which I was sceptical about to say the least, but fair play to him. They'll be fine this season I think, they have some good players, a good coach and I can see their ground being a bit of a fortress with their atmosphere, a bit like Stoke. Good luck to them.
That hatred is for a good reason, after what happened at Cardiff when the rags played their in 1974 the yr after we relegated them. The utd fans decided it would be a good idea to sing ABERFAN at the Welsh fans, bad, bad idea,it caused mayhem.
They really did take the game to us. and i expect them to beat wigan at the weekend. good luck.

i weren't born in 1974 but i heard united wankers were chanting aberfan. fucking scum, young kids died there.

Hi City fans,

Nice to read all your positive comments about the Swans last night. I think everything's been covered by other posters really, but I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Etihad. Great view from the second tier too!

I hope our first game promise continues and we can go one better that Blackpool and survive our first season in the big time.

Last night we all saw history, in many different capacities. And you City fans saw two and a half thousand Jacks loving life and thoroughly enjoying a 4-0 drubbing. LOVE IT!

Condolences to the Blue who had a heart attack after the match. RIP.

Good luck for the rest of you season, and if any of you are interested in the rest of our season, I will be blogging the highs and lows at http://jacktheladpremierleague.blogspot.com

Nice one. Spoke to a couple of "Jacks" (sorry for my ignorance but what does that refer to..?) after the game and they were decent lads. They had smiles on their faces and said they'd enjoyed the game and like everyone else were waxing lyrical about Aguero.. They did comment on how big a team we were and especially Yaya! They also had a healthy dislike for the swamp dwellers which always goes down well in these parts. Wished each other all the best for the season... Just how it should be.

I was impressed with your team and fans from beginning to the end, both a great credit to your club.

There's many a theory regarding 'Jack'! Many Swans fans will come on here and tell you differently, but I believe it comes from a famous dog. There are many few dogs down here, most can be seen on Wind Street or the Kingsway on a Thursday night.

Taken from wiki... 'A popular nickname for natives of Swansea is "Swansea Jack, and many people believe that this name also stems from the famous dog. Others claim that the derivation is from the nickname given to Swansea's sailors, who had a reputation as skilled and dependable mariners. Another theory is that the coal miners of nearby coalfields called the miners from Swansea "Jacks" because their lunch-boxes were uniquely made of Swansea tin and called Jacks.'

The Swans have always had a good away following, and this season will be no different. I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.

Swansea fans were brilliant last night and the team did them proud. It will be a tough season, I think Swansea have enough to cause teams problems and win games amongst the teams around them. With the fans backing going to Swansea this season will be a tough game for every team who visit. All the best! Good footballing side, good heart, good fans.

Thanks for the info... Jack.

After last night, and my experience of the Ninian Park Car park back in the 90's cup game, I reckon Swansea are now my, and most City fans' welsh team...

There's still only one City though!

;-)

Swans fan here. First of all thoroughly enjoyed the game last night. Thought we did ok for the first hour but then your class shone through. Augero was a quality player and you will definitely be challenging for the title this season.
