Swansea in the pl

Lived there for 4yrs whilst doing my degree, rum bunch but good lads mainly, was quite a lot of pro city sentiment amongst them at the time too. No doubt the prem will bring the worst out of their travelling contingent and the away trip will be a bit of a nightmare if only for the difficulty of getting there, don't get lost and end up in Bon Y Maen or Blaen Y Maes, rough as f*ck.
Can't see how we can reasonably blame them or the Welsh FA for not supporting the English action, it was conceived too late and with little chance of success given the circumstances.

Welsh FA couldnt afford the air ticket to get out there and vote. hence why all our managers are always the cheapest options. Gary Speed FFS

no because for one thing swansea are no longer part of the welsh FA as they joined the english FA just under a week ago :D

taken from a 2010 article on the FAW resisting the attempts of the FA to absorb the welsh teams

if either of the teams is promoted they will have to go with the English FA. The Premier League is introducing new rules stipulating that teams can only play in the competition if they are affiliated to the English FA. As the FAW member said, “Under those circumstances, and Cardiff are pushing hard for promotion this year, it would be hard for us to stand in their way.”

I dont know if this means they can qualify for europe or not

Why do people care so much?

What's so different about Swansea playing in the Championship? Why weren't people moaning then? Swansea have been part of the English FA for a long time, haven't they? And they're allowed to compete in the FA Cup and the Football League, so why shouldn't they be allowed to play in the English Premier League?

If you really do have a problem with Swansea being in the Premier League, just think of them as being Welsh tourists: they'll come, have a good time and then go back down again.

I refer you back to my earlier post... they've been part of the english FA for about 5 days now lol

I don't have a problem with welsh teams in the english leagues. did a lot of research as to why they were allowed in in the first place and from what i can tell it stems to the fact that wales wasn't thought of as a country proper when the leagues all formed (they didn't even have a capital until 1956) what is the welsh leagues now evolved from county leagues like how city would have played in the lancashire league before the formation of the 'football league' when the 'nationwide football league' did form the best clubs from the 'county leagues' joined up and as it expanded more joined including the best 5 teams from the welsh county leagues it wasn't until years later that the welsh formed a 'nationwide welsh league'

Welsh teams should not be allowed in english leagues, that simple really.

Why not? They have been there for over 100 years - and were in the top flight of the English league in the early 1980's. No one bothered then...... so now it is ''The Premier League'', rather than Division 1, loads of people are going mad!

Berwick (an English team) play in Scotland, Monaco (an independant state) play in the French league, teams from Lichenstein play in the Swiss league (I think!, definately play elsewhere!) Derry play in the Republic of Ireland league despite being in Northern Ireland. It's no big deal.

another shithole for our club to visit.

When was your last visit? I was in Swansea just under 3 years ago, it had improved a lot since my last visit with City in the 80s. The new stadium is neat enough though a bit on the small side for a top flight ground.
