Swearing

Firstly, my apologies for starting a new topic with so few posts under my belt.

I have a season ticket in the East stand and for the last few home matches the steward nearest too me has told me that someone near me has complained about my bad language on more than one occasion.

Now I know I shouldn't swear, but I don't think I do it any more than anyone else who sits near me. Also the person in question has not even spoken to me about it, nor has anyone else complained.

Last week for the cup match. The steward brought in a senior steward to ask me to tone it down, and I was informed that the complainer has asked for a full report to me made, for the stadium cameras to be on me & for me to be moved.

As I said earlier, I know I shouldn't swear, but I can't beleive that I am the only one out of thousands to swear at a football match.

I intend to reduce the level of my bad language, but the reason for the topic was to ask if there is anything that I can do to cover me with the club, as I feel that I am being singled out for doing something that quite a few people must do each week.

If you want to swear, swear! I sit in the East Stand on level 1, and I do it in the ground a lot! if people don't like it then they should just fuckin have to put up with it, sit in the family stand or not come! it's a footy ground not a primary school playground!

It's just assembled letters just like any other set of words! a football ground is a higly charged, angry, hostile place to be and swearing - like it or not - is part of that!

where abouts do you sit

if they complain just tell them to watch it on the tele so they can keep there cotton wool round there children for a few more years.
Football matches are the perfect way to release your anger imo

I agree to an extent, I used to have seats in colin bell middle tier just left of centre next to the rope and when we had fowler this fucking quaffer on the otherside of the rope swore like a fucking mentalist. I had my two kids with me and although I accept that swearing is part of football and I participate in the odd word or 2, this guy clearly had a lack of braincells, literally every other word was fucking this or **** that.
well no matter how much i told him he didnt listen, so like a true gent I told him to step into my office, He declined but persisted to carry on his foul abuse, I grabbed the shit head with his tie and ripped the prick over the rope and twatted him once in his ear, dare I say a corker.
Anyway the steward came and asked what had gone on, I didnt even have to open my mouth everyone that was around, including city employees said I had over reacted a little but the guy deserved all he got, needless to say the steward reported the guy to the table owner of the boardroom suite and the guy was removed for the second half.

Now that sort of swearing I abore, but swearing to vent anger is acceptable and part of the game and yes Id do the same thing and even fucked off one of my clients who thought it was clever to swear like an idiot with kids and women there, im sure you can see that I like the odd profanity, just not persistent and consistent swearing that shows a lack of intelligence!

Haha why exactly is it an angry ,hostile place?

Almost broke my seat at the Liverpool game where we lost 3:2. People should realise that if you don't sit in the North Stand and to an extent, the Colin Bell, then you'll hear foul language and see certain actions.

I did go through the Stoke game just being sarky. Shouting 'your a naughty boy', 'come on both teams' & 'jolly good show' etc. Childish I know, but had to be done.

One thing I forgot to mention. This guy moved seats at half time into the family stand. When someone who sits near me asked who this guy was ,I pointed to him. Next minute the steward comes over again asking me to stop pointing at this guy. Didn't know pointing was against the law.

are they complaining because they have a young kid with them? If this is the case i understand why they're complaining BUT that is what the family stand is for. Like you say you're not the only one and if the person was so bothered, they should have a little word with you before running to the stewards

I remember giving out to a linesman when somebody who scored was miles offside. A lady in front of me asked to "watch my language as her son was with her", I was just about to say sorry when I realised her son was in his late teens and obivously embrassed by his mum. My mate and I just laughed and told her it was a football match.

Mate, inform the club that you come from a 'traveller' family and that swearing is part of your culture and heritage.

Then lodge a counter-complaint against the back-stabbing sly moaning tw@t for being a racist.

Just a suggestion.

if parents honestly believe their children don't hear swearing other than at the football then they really are kidding themselves.

I remember what the language was like at my Primary School, this was 16yrs ago now - i can guarantee its alot worse now as just observing primary school football matches some of the vocabularly that comes out of their mouths puts Roy chubby Brown to shame.

I will swear at games but there is a difference between the odd swear word here and there and constant bombardment with swear words.

They may focus on you visually but is there any proof you are the swearer? there are several thousand people around you many who will swear... best advice: play dumb!
and suggest you hear people swearing around you alot.
