Well its already stated that the kid want to change team because of the treatment. If this kid got the feedback he wanted there would be no issue. I´m sure he dont change want to change club because they say nice things to teh other player...

So its clear that the coaches dont know what they are doing. I´d say that coaches overall SUCK at motivating and give feedback to players. I know internal motivation is the key factor for success, but you also need external and positive (and negative) feedback from your coach.

And thats my conclusion from reading studies about coaches motivation players here in Sweden, elite junior team in hockey.

How many english youths are playing abroad? That answer would I find very interesting. How often do Real Madrid, Bayern or Barcelona try to buy a english youth player?

I was a pro golfer and I knew that I was not good enough, no amount of coaching would have changed that. Before I got to that stage I had a very fast rise. I went from 36 to 8 in a year and 18 months later was playing off 1. If this lad is good enough then he will use the motivation of not being the favourite to good use.

How many foreign clubs can afford to buy the best of our youth? That is more the reason why we buy their best but they never get near ours.

You was a pro or not a pro? Im confused.

So to solve the problem of not having enough english youths coming through and play in the PL, is doing nothing. Hence players with the right amount of internal motivation will make it anyway. I dont get people who use themselves as proof of anything. You know, not everyone is like you.

You are correct and not everyone is like me it was arrogant for me to generalise like that, but most of the people who are in the position to try to be the best are. I was a PGA qualified pro but hated teaching ( I wonder why lol ) so quit and gave up my qualification.

In answer to "can Barca, Real and Bayern not afford a 15 year old english kid?" All I would say is I don't think so as they cannot afford to keep their 15 year old's and we (and other prem clubs) can afford to buy them.

As a father of 3 and an ex football coach I couldn't be any more clueless if I tried obviously.

As I said previously the days of 20 a side football games in the local park are a thing of the past, I live right next to some local pitches and at best you see 4 or 5 kids playing 3 and in or what ever they call it nowadays.

My own two boys play for an u16 team and have played in leagues since u7 but they still don't play out with a football like us old timers used to, why is that ?

Technology is the difference, none in the 70's/80's for me but these days kids bedrooms resemble an electrical warehouse.

American kids but it is saying the same thing as me but no doubt that will be more clueless bollocks eh ?

And If you became a pro, well, you did achieve what these youth would like to achieve but probably wont.... So, I was right. But you still won.... hahaha...

True in a way, but it could also be that they have so many talanted kids they can afford ship them away. well, to big topic for this evening.

Perhaps the severe lack of qualified coaches or people wanting to go into youth coaching is related to the fact that In the UK (and Australia too) any male who chooses to work with children/youth is automatically under suspicion of being a Paedo..

What a load of bollocks!

Maybe is down to the cost of the courses after the basic level or the sever lack of facility's or that once they do get involved in a team there's always one parent who always knows more and that's at the bottom level.

I know decent coaches who can't get into pro clubs because it is a closed shop.

Football in this country needs a major overhaul, there's too many different ways of coaching being done which is ineffective and too many people protecting there little kingdoms instead if focusing on what's best for the players.

My apologies for sounding off hand. I'm really passionate about the state of football in the UK. By rights, I shouldn't be, because I live and coach in Germany, where everything is hunky dorey. Before I echo what I've stated on various threads, can I ask you to look at the "Youth Facilities in the UK" (General Football Forum)thread? I'm sure you'll find it interesting. It gives an incite on how things are done on the continent.
Once again, sorry for being cocky. It's the British make do mentality that gets me down. And for those that are involved and are doing things to change the situation; they obviously don't come under the make do category.

I am another not good enough Golf Pro coming out of the wood work. But I LOVED to teach and did for 20 years. Funnily enough my brother is a Football coach but I know diddly about it.

If Golf is anything like Football, I know that a future star will have to develop solid foundations to his game (though won't necesarily have to win yet) in the years between 8-12 years old. There are exceptions like Nick Faldo and Greg Norman, but very few in the modern era.
Having read this thread it sounds like British kids are selected to win at every level without really having the chance or the incentive to learn the right skills for the future.
