my lasting memory from that awful day in 1980 at Halifax was trying to get onto the train station after the game to get home

and as for Shrewsbury it was chucking snowballs at the coppers as they walked past the away end trying to knock their hats off
 
Used to follow Belle Vue Aces, and the Shay was pretty unique in that no one knew who had won a heat until the mud had been swilled off, they were all head-to-toe a uniform dark brown. The idiots that watched from track-side were the same.....

Mate & me about 13 and decided to go and see what all the speedway fuss was about, Peter Collins was world champion, we notice that nobody was stood on the corners, you know the rest….!!
