SWP petitioned by HMRC

can everyone stop banging on about money for a minute
and focus on the real issue here...

the fucking headline!

"former chelsea and man city star"

how, for the love of wonder, do chelsea get first mention?

Agree should read former QPR and Red Bull star

youve had very different dealings with HMRC than me
hounded me for £7k. And i mean, made my life a misery. Sent me to a slight breakdown, panic attacks. They were cunts.
Had my accountant on it as it didnt add up. I never refused to pay, i just asked for time whilst accountant looked at it. No time given, weekly phone calls , weekly letters…

Fast forward my accountant sorting it out and dealing with HMRC… turns out i owed fuck all, they owed me £200 :))

Took them 2 years to send the cheque
Snap - although they said it was 6k I owed, I was on the verge of paying after nine months of worry trying to prove them wrong, just to get shot of all the hassle. Long story short they owed me £580 - never got an apology. To this day I 'kin hate those brown envelopes coming through the door.

I was suggesting maybe the people SWP had around him after his playing career have not advised him in his best interests.

I spoke to Shaun about it at an event we were at and he had no idea whatsoever about it but did suggest he'd have loved to visit the shirt collection and talk about his career in the shirts as many other blues had done.

£500 is fuck all really considering who he is, i once paid Gazza 10 grand for an hour of his time (signing session) this was 20 years ago and i had to go to HIS hotel and then he kept me waiting for 2 hours !!
And they say Gazz's a clown ;-)

Wes Brown the same, bankruptcy and Mutv to pay the bills whilst living in one of Rashfords houses on mates rates, after 40K a week at waterworld
Hehe waterworld.

As others have said, not paying tax/bills and also not knowing your own finances to some sort if degree (wasn't it Sting who was robbed blind by his accountant?) no matter how busy you are is negligent.

I bet he knew 100%. it was a small fee, Paul Lake wanted the same for something similiar but i fucked him off as i had already told him i was happy for him to sell the book at the event.

The problem with a lot of footballers is they get molly coddled everthing done for them by their clubs .
When he lived in Cheadle Hulme & sold his house the person who bought it turned up after signing for it & shauny boy was still in the house with all his belongings, wasnt aware he should of moved out .
I seem to remember a story from back in the day, where his credit card company was taking him to court for a well overdue amount
His defence was that he had no idea how to settle it

They do this so you can't ignore them, but doesn't necessarily mean you are skint.

If footy clubs owe the HMRC they often get a winding up order to sharpen their minds on paying, but very rare they are wound up.

I'm sorry but I don't have any sympathy for anyone who made more in a week than most make in a year and loses it all.

Me neither. It has to be greed, which seems to motivate most footballers, so they invest in hare brained schemes trying to make even more money. Even a bang average premier league player has to be earning £200,000 a month and I bet Shaun was earning at least that when he was playing at the top level. Over two million pounds a year yet they can't be set for life once they retire? They must have the same lack of brains and ability to spend money as that fuckwit Michael Carroll who won the lottery and blew it all.

He's not like Robbie Fowler upstairs for sure lol! who i seemed to recall invested his money in houses & rented them out .
But at least he turned up on the pitch for us though & his move to Chelsea kept us going financially .

Ian Wright got in money trouble too didn't he? We all love SWP and can feel sorry for him, even if fault can be aimed at him.
