Snap - although they said it was 6k I owed, I was on the verge of paying after nine months of worry trying to prove them wrong, just to get shot of all the hassle. Long story short they owed me £580 - never got an apology. To this day I 'kin hate those brown envelopes coming through the door.

I was the same. Was just gonna pay, did the usual man thing and buried my head, didnt tell the mrs etc i know its not a huge sum but it was enough!
The weekly phone calls did me in.

Anyway, opened up to my HMRC hating accountant who said, “leave it with me” and she proved them wrong!!

Felt like ringing them weekly and saying “for my money yet?”

Not necessarily reckless. Clueless maybe. Earnings through interest and investments may have got out of hand without having a decent accountant. I can imagine this is a problem with a lot of high earning footballers as people do not magically become top level accountants having exited their football career. It is an ex City player so of course it makes headlines.

I wouldn't say we all love him...I did as a player but met him twice, once 20 odd years ago and once recently and have to say I didn't warm to him at all.

That surprises me about Tevez as he has a reputation as a mercenary. Good to hear he was good with you. It was a shame that he did not stay longer as him and Kun were amazing together.
