SWP

SWP is a quality player and we would miss him if he were discarded. Everybody expects him to dribble past 3 players every time he receives the ball but that is nigh on impossible. If he attempts this all the time he, as would anybody else, loses possession and the attack breaks down.
Thing is we all expect him to take defenders on all the time and complain when he waits for support. Against 'pool he was obviously told to hold his position rather than attack. It was only after we went behind that he was instructed to push on.
As in a previous post he works tirelessly in defense and his far post defensive header was a game saver for us and no doubt appreciated by his team mates and manager. It also looks like many people would have replaced him before he created the 2nd goal with some great skill.
I think that he suffers from over expectation from us lot to create a goal scoring opportunity ever time he has the ball. Although I have to agree that his distribution is poor of late and he certainly could improve in that area.

robinho on the left and bellamy on the right when robinho is back fit.

this this this.
This is an option that i've considered too. But are you not concerned that Bellamy was poor and really ineffective the last time he was tried on the right? It completely nullifies him. He's only effective when he can cut inside onto his right foot, but he can't do that from the right. And he doesn't have much of a cross on him either, so i'm not sure what he would offer from that flank. Obviously, we'd all like to find a place in the team for Bellers, but for me, SWP and Weiss are both better options for right wing that him. Assuming Robinho gets straight back in the team, the only way we can play Bellamy effectively is to go back to what was so successful right at the very start of the season... Bellamy up front with Adebayor in a 4-4-2. But that then brings back the problem of not getting the best out of Robinho or Ireland, as they prefer 4-3-3. So, as harsh as it sounds, when Robinho's back fully fit, Bellamy doesn't get in the team for me. And that's coming from one of Bellamy's biggest fans.

I agree that SWP probably will be replaced. I love him to bits but i do feel he is slightly limited.

But replacing him with James Milner? He's hardly going to frighten the Milan defence away at the San Siro is he?

His ability to thread balls through, rather than take them on and lose possession, is much better than Sweeps, therefore although he won't frighten left-backs like an on-form Lennon, where a defender just does know what to do, I think he would be much more effective with that passing ability, ala Beckham. plus Milner has pace AND can take people on when he wants. I rate him.

Thats fair enough mate, i take your opinions on board but i dont rate him really. I'd rather we kept SWP than get Milner. Theres no doubt he is a great pro and a solid player who works hard, but i dont see much more than that from him.

I think Lennon is a bit like SWP, both confidence and form players. Lennon can look atrocious, as can SWP. Luckily for Spurs and Lennon, Lennon has hit form at the right time

To coin a phrase, this, this, this.
