SWP

For me, SWP is the weak link in the team and a prime candidate to be the next position to be replaced. I can't agree with the Robbie on the left and Bellers on the right theory, not through disagreement it would work, as I think it would but I think its fair to say Robbie won't be a City player passed Jan, or at the latest after the World Cup. For me I would put in a January bid for Milner and put him on the right, Bellamy or Robinho on the left and see how that works. Too many times this season SWP has lost possession of the ball by eithe rbeing unable to get round his man, or more commonly just losing the ball through lack of being able to do anything with it. I don't like bagging off SWP, not by any means and you know I like to stick up for our staff, (ala the anti, anti-Hughes posts), but froma pure footballing perspective I think SWP will be unable to compete against the European clubs, should we get into Europe anytime soon. I think Milner has the ability to do more than a good job for us and I would go wading in with a £20m bid in Jan.

visually impaired are we?

Nope, not at all, as I can see that SWP is not the player he was and twice on Saturday he lost the ball which prompted a scouse attack. Fair enough, they all make mistakes but these errors were well into the scousers half and totally needless. Against united or Arsenal, those mistakes will go punished but instead of an anti-sweep thread, Hughes will no doubt get the blame.

thats just the way Shaun plays, there is defo no manual with his game its as i sed b4 off the cuff football thats why he is so affective.
In some aspects i understand in what u say about him but he is a more complete player than he was 1st time around,he was a ruff diamond b4 and playing in average sides.

But do you agree that say we finish top 4 this term and this time next year we are about to play Milan away, SWP could be shown up to be the missing link by giving possession away so needlessly? Ok on Saturday the ball, on one occasion, only fell to Lucas, (HAHAH!), but do you think such a mistake would go unpunished against a Pato, for example? People keep on harping on about Hughes not being up to taking us to that level, however should we do reach it, what about some of the playing staff not being able to perform at that level? All theoretical, granted, but it can't be a coincidence that SWP was average in a good Chelsea side, and now he is playing with decent players here people are noticing more mistakes than his first spell when, Anelka aside he was playing with far, far lesser players than he is now.

I agree that SWP probably will be replaced. I love him to bits but i do feel he is slightly limited.

But replacing him with James Milner? He's hardly going to frighten the Milan defence away at the San Siro is he?

His ability to thread balls through, rather than take them on and lose possession, is much better than Sweeps, therefore although he won't frighten left-backs like an on-form Lennon, where a defender just does know what to do, I think he would be much more effective with that passing ability, ala Beckham. plus Milner has pace AND can take people on when he wants. I rate him.

He divides opinion. On one hand, he cannot pass. It's shocking that he lacks basic football skills.

On the other hand he has 5 assists in the PL, prevented the Greek lad from scoring, and directly set Ireland up for what should have been the winner.

The problem is, against the very top teams we need players who have basics to fall back on. Shauny, as much as i love him, doesn't. We need players who can keep the ball, as when you lose it against Scum and Chelsea etc... you will struggle like hell to get it back.

However, Shauny isn't the only player who is incapable of keeping the ball.

For now, i'd probably give him a rest and play Tevez there. Weiss isn't ready yet. He'd be good for a cameo in a game that's already in the bag (if such a scenario exists with City).
