The footage is awful and shows you how we stand absolutely fuck all chance in that situation.
From Oz originally, but these are generally black swan events - they don't happen that often, so I wouldn't want people to panic about this sort of stuff.
We are in their habitat at the end of the day and swimming in open water always come with a level of risk.
I agree, they had no chance with that and we are in their habitat.
Like a few animal groups have mentioned now, will probably see a cull of some of the bigger sharks in the area despite it being the first death since the 60s.
Thoughts are with the deceased family.
I cannot see that happening, whenever these events happen in Oz I don't remember any sort of cull occuring. The public back home would not support this and it would be political suicide.
Ahh fair enough.
They've killed the shark in question from the images on Instagram.
Where have you seen that, it sounds like misinformation?
From what I gather they've not been able to find the shark and it is unlikely that they will - as they travel vast distances quickly.
Apologies in advance for the graphic photo.

Why the fuck would you go swimming in known shark waters, in a wet suit, close to rocks? You wouldn’t catch me in any sea that great whites/bull/tiger sharks venture in. Got to be the most horrific way to die.
I’ve been watching the YouTuber that someone posting earlier, it does show that great whites aren’t the predatory monsters they are made out to be. But still, it’s not something that appeals to me. Apparently this British bloke who got eaten alive yesterday was wearing a wet suit, absolute mental bastard.
I agree with this, it seems really naive to go swimming next to rocks, where people are fishing as well - which will always attract sharks.
That was me who posted the drone footage and to be honest, it seems like a much more efficient way of beach protection that nets. You are able to alert swimmers and surfers that there is a shark nearby to them.
Seals give birth from October to mid December,so sharks come in looking for an easy meal.I agree with this, it seems really naive to go swimming next to rocks, where people are fishing as well - which will always attract sharks.

I believe great whites don't have the best vision in shallow murky waters, and will take a bite to see if it's their normal food.
Problem is,once bitten by a great white, with a bite force of anything up to 4000 PSI,your pretty much fucked.
A decent size great white can have a mouth well over a metre wide,so yes, there wouldn't be much left. The strangest thing about this is that the shark nearly ate him whole.
There was not much left from what I gather....
Thats a very old photo mate.
