remember when he scored at Boro the Stuart Pearce season when it looked like we might go down.

He celebrated in front of us and looked very pleased.
Am forever grateful for that win (and the 2 that quickly followed) - took us from 30 points just before easter and looking in the shit to safety.
Another name among the many who we needed to get to where we are today (if we'd gone down then no ADUG)

I blame Pearce,he took the captaincy of him so in my opinion he lost respect for him.
Agreed, as much as I loved the Dunnie monster, it seemed a really strange decision at the time.

Liked him as a player, and I thought he was right to leave us at the time. Let's face it, we were a sinking ship then.

But I distinctly remember someone saying that he was giving it out to a City fan on MySpace after we got done 6-0 at Chelsea. Anyone else remember that?

If he did give it to a City fan then he's a nob, but tbf the City fans gave him no appreciation whatsoever, like I mentioned a couple of pages back, it was all about Dunne Dunne Dunne, but Distin was the best defender at the club by miles.

Is this true?
I doubt very much we were able to offer him the kind nof cash Harry was throwing around at the time. Same goes for Cole and James. I thought his "reason" for leaving, had something to do with his wife missing France, which is why the fans turned on him, as he was obviously full of shit. Pompey were going nowhere just as fast as we were. He went for the money IMO.

His reason was that he wanted a fresh challenge and the opportunity to play in Europe, and he had much more chance of doing that at pompey than with us. Here it says that we offered him 35k a week, though I thought we'd offered him £40k a week in the end:

The only thing I can find on Distins pompey wages is here, which admittedly isn't very reliable, but reckons he was on £40k a week:

Regardless, I don't buy into it that he left for the money. We were in a shit position at the time what with just surviving relegation, having no money to spend, a crap manager, players twatting others in training and a general very bad vibe aorund the club. I don't blame Distin for wanting something better at that stage of his career, he's got an FA Cup winners medfal to show for it at least

I really enjoyed booing him last time he came....What a fantastic game that was. I shall never forget it!!

Oh nearly forgot......It's all City's fault!!!!!!

We got 5 solid years out of Distin and i don't blame him in the slightest for leaving.
We were goin nowhere fast,Pompey were very ambitious at the time(too ambitious for their own good in hindsight)and he was offered more money.
If you think the modern footballer isn't in it for the money then you are deluded
