Night shift was good on blueview, think a lot of the people who survived rivals have now ended up on bluevibe, quite surreal on there sometimes, but i'm afraid the nightshift is not what it was.[/quote]

The night shift on there at that time was mint.
Birdy, Glen, Uwe Rizla, Citygal123, Layla, Choppers, FloridaBlue, VonksConk, Dabz & Goatboy et al ! Rivals was never the same although some good peeps who frequented the Bluemoon Bar. It was Sam Harris and Joe Holt who provided the link to here when we finally decamped and turned the lights out for the last time :)

I've got half a memory of MCFCBird (Debs) snapping me in a ground and saying "This is for the hall of fame"

Thanks Nomad!!!!

Yes quite a few old faces, Oxford Blue is on there as well (and a fresh faced nomad).
The bottom photo on the right, 'junior blues) has Debs lad Joe, i think she said he's married now and my two, lad and the girl on the right are 23 and 18.

Makes me feel very old!

-- Wed Oct 26, 2011 12:59 pm --

Birdy, Uwe and Florida still post on the vibe, Choppers was just a comedy charcter, i think by Practioner (now prac) who is also still around along with bleeds (granata), boom, kippaxed , bournemouth blue and flora (haggis)

Used to have a blueview corner at the Parkside, quite a few vanished into cyberspace though.

A long long time ago, the first City forum was called Blue View. I was a regular and I'm sure some more of the old heads on here were.

The most high profile resident United WUM was a guy called T-Shirt Jon. He was absolutely typical of your common or garden gloating, arrogant, smug, pisstaking red. Some may even remember this, he once ripped off all the email addresses of all Blueviewers (forums were much smaller then of course) and send out the following email. I just found it - yes I kept it - and feel it is worth repeating here as a quick reminder of how things were just in case anyone is taking their foot off the pedal with the pisstaking:

Reading, Lincoln and the Titanic - 26/10/98
Ha Ha Ha it has to be said that your joke team are great for a laugh.
You send us off on our trip to Copenhagen laughing at the thought of the nice trip you must have had back from Lincoln (a much-needed tonic at 5:30 a.m.) and then you treat us all again to a blo*dy good chuckle at the Reading result on the way back from Derby.
Who are you playing against when we go to Barcelona on 25th November? Don't answer that - you'd spoil what will no doubt be a nice surprise.
Why don't you re-release your 97-8 Season Review video on the back of the hype surrounding the release of the 'Titanic' video? You could even assure potential purchasers that they would not have to watch much of your sh*te actually attempting to play football - just the goals they let in.
On that basis I'd certainly buy one!
Bye for now, losers!
T-Shirt Jon

I pray the fucker was there on Sunday. I pray he remembered sending this out, just for a second, as Silva danced through their defence. He never ever, to the bottom of his heart and soul, dreamed that Sunday would come.

Read it and remember blues. They were all like that then.

Laugh from the bottom of your hearts and laugh again. The worm turned. And it bit their fucking heads off.

"foot off the pedal"???? you must be joking Dave, I've not even reached my crecendo yet! Unfortunately I know loads of these type of pisstakers and believe me there wil be no "foot off the pedal" around here, I'm still instigating conversation where I can get in the "six of one, half a dozen of the other" saying!

That's the spirit charlie.

I can't wait for the next time a United fan gets in my car. I'm going to drive him up and down the M61 in silence all day.

It's in the thread already - Blue Blooded Blunderer. Stood on an open division 2 terrace somewhere.

My guess is Chesterfield, looking at the lads I'm with. Or could be Portsmouth.

To me that Lincoln game was worse than the yardstick of 'York away'

It was the first time I questioned my sanity following City. It was the first time i said to myself,'what the fuck am i doing here?'

The whole night was a disaster. The coach turning up late, the players getting changed on the coach, being stuck in a traffic jam outside Rampton, which was quite apt as at the time our club was being run like a fucking asylum.

Happy days!

If you look at the date, I'd say that email was probably sent at the lowest point in our club's history. I think we went lower down the table a bit later, but in terms of morale it was the lowest of the low. We really believed we were stuck in division 2 for the forseeable future, possibly forever. And they were playing Barcelona that week.

Noone could ever have predicted Sunday, that day.

Can't remember which old City forum it was but I do remember someone called Michael Chopley who seemed to speak in riddles. I wasn't sure if he was taking the piss or had learning difficulties.
Is Wookies lair still going ?

At that time i couldn't enviasage promotion never mind anything else.

As i was driving I couldn't even have a bevvy to drown my sorrows.

Told you it was a bitch of a day. Watching us sober in them dark days was a harrowing experience!

I was on the old BV at the time, and it was a fantastic board in its early days. I was Moscow Blue for a couple of years and then under this login once I came back to the UK for a few years. Missed the first TG but attended several others after that.

Remember TSJ very well. A bit of a split personality, I recall. Occasionally you could have a decent debate with him on City, United or football generally. Most of the time, though, he was a WUM of the first order - mildly amusing now and again, but mostly crass, arrogant and exceptionally irritating.

I remember Sikpupi/Pupi, a terrific lad who ran the tech side of things back then, had a lot of time for him. I also recall Pupi saying that TSJ contributed generously when they asked for donations to keep the board alive, and provided some technical assistance too when it was needed (he worked in IT). But then he also gathered peoples email addresses and spammed them. I've forgotten the details now, but it really angered quite a few people on the receivng end, and went way beyond any idea of 'banter' or a laugh.

As DD says, he used to like to play this Manc metropolitan sophisticate card all the time, as a lot of supposed 'Top Reds' do in rather a protest-too-much kind of way. In fact, he lived in Ilkley, and while anyone can move for work, he'd originally been a yonner from somewhere out past Bolton. Nowt wrong with that, either, but rather different from the image he was desperately trying to project.

As people have said, we all thought it hilarious when he was charged over the incident at the November 2000 derby at Maine Road: http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Soccer+fan+on+court+charges.-a067277933. I believe he was around for years after that on United boards, but oddly we never heard another peep from him.

Thanks for that fine post, petrusha. I remember you too.

Very astute point about this internet top-manc about town persona that United WUMs put on. It betrays their deep-seated anxiety: that Man Utd is ultimately a club supported by cunts.

Petrusha - Another name from the past! Your summary of TSJ is bang on, bit of a split personality sums him up. But for some reason he just started going way ott and ended up peeing a lot of people off. We used to sit in Block BB of the kippax at the time and saw him being lifted by the coppers, was very amusing and to be honest, only really happened because he got too giddy with all the anti city stuff he was coming out with.

Good summary. Hope alls good with you

Cheers, mate - good to see you as well. Yes, all well here. Hope you're thriving as well. Bit of a reunion here today! :)

-- Wed Oct 26, 2011 5:36 pm --

ha ha, not thought of that one, one of the rags at work is from Bolton I'll ask him tomorrow if he came down the M-6-1, that'll no doubt get the usual response " FUCK OFF YOU BLUE ****" to which I'll reply something like "oh c'mon its football banter, you give it then I give it, its 6 of one half a............"

United always had a relatively large out-of-town contingent, but in the seventies and eighties they were really proud of it even though we gave them a bit of stick for it. But it became a sore point with some of them in the nineties when the rest of the country started taking the piss out of them too.

So they started with this really exaggerated, faux Manc ethos to a degree that was almost embarrassing. Pretty laughable, really.

That was Choppers - many believe it was Prac as one of the other posters mentioned earlier in the thread. If anyone can provide a link to his website this character would make you piss yourself. SoupForKev anyone ?
