Tackling the issue!? Are we getting a raw deal from the referees?

Great work. Just a couple of corrections for the OP.

19 /9/15 West Ham. Only lost 1 pt rather than 2 as if offside goal not counted we would have gsined 1 pt for a draw.

26/9/15 Spurs. We didn't lose any points from Team Twattenburg. Even without the two offside goals they would have won 2-1, in fact 2-0 if KdB's marginally offside goal not given. In reality, the offside goals changed the momentum of the game. Our defence was based on moving up to catch them offside. This was a major fail with incompetent linesmen.

This is the problem. No one knows what would have happened had the decisions been correct.

You don't believe but you don't know for sure. It's impossible to know. That's the problem.

No but it's not impossible to say that we would have gone in at half time leading the game. You cannot say that decision didn't change the whole complexion of the game. I went down for a beer buzzing at half time and came back up and we were losing! The third goal that absolutely killed our chances of getting anything was also offside.

Absolutely agree, we were leading and the strongest team in the first half and were killed by a 15 minute spell with 3 goals - Dier 45, Alderweireld 50, Kane 61 two of these were offside. As I say I can't say for certain but was confident we would have won that game but for those decisions.
To be honest though it shouldn't even be getting debated, it certainly wouldn't if the referee had completed his work effectively or not cheated depending upon your beliefs

Just watching champs league highlights benefica v zenit and criscito gets sent off with a 2nd booking for a challenge from behind. Watch it and tell me whether the challenge there was any worse than that on Sagna v Liverpool or on Aguero v Everton that both directly led to opening goals... I am just getting even madder watching it.

Don't forget Liverpool is a game we are accepting because we lost so heavily but forget that very often the first goal is critical in the premier league.

It did change the pattern of the game but no one can be sure it changed the outcome. De bruyne's goal could also have been given as offside so who knows what would have happened.

The one that was more likely to change the result was Everton at home. The penalty would have been the last kick virtually. However we may have missed it!

No, you will find that on every fan forum people think their team is being fucked over by refs, every single one of them.

Nno other forum has such a legitimate reason to feel cheated, find me a team who has been on the receiving end of the same level of terrible game changing decisions as City then I may consider your point valid!

What really annoys me and gets on my goat are the following comments when it comes to excusing these incompetent/corrupt cheats who shaft city on a regular basis;
1- Decisions even themselves out over a season! Bollocks.
2- With our squad the ref shouldn't matter! Again bollocks!
3- Every team gets the same about of bad decisions! Again bollocks!

These excuses that are peddled out by so called blues are amongst the major reason imo why these refs can act like celebrities and swam around the Etihad and get away with murder! I don't want us to ever turn into the rags but we need to toughen up as a club and fight back against these cheats.

Rant over.

well said pal, bollocks to em, I'd hazard a guess that a majority of those making the comments aren't blues but scum in disguise.
Why would anyone ever want to forge those beliefs on a City forum if they were genuine fans!?

The question is what can we do to stop this injustice?

Sadly no idea other than making more of a fuss in the media etc.

this is what it says on the Premier League website regarding responsibilities of PGMOL and Select Group referees of which Clattenberg is one;

How is being a Select Group referee different?

  • Premier League matches are officiated by Select Group referees and assistant referees.
  • They meet for a ‘training camp’ twice a month, where they perform physical and technical training sessions, and analyse match videos.
  • There is a robust system for measuring Select Group performance over the season. Each Premier League match is evaluated by a former senior referee who scrutinises every decision using the match footage and ProZone to measure the officials’ technical performance. Former players and managers (Match Delegates) assess the accuracy and consistency of decision making and their management of the game.
third bullet in particular is of interest. you wonder what level of independent scrutiny/diligence there is in that process. its key as it is the best defence about any real/accused level of corruption. If that level of scrutiny is in place, and it does its job, who in their right mind would appoint the same team to officiate the game on Sunday as were in place at WHL

Totally agree with all of the above. Well said @SuperKevinHorlock

Referees aren't our problem. We've got a manager who can't be arsed and it's rubbing off on the players so any time we play a half decent team we get stuffed. That's the problem. I find it hard to sympathise over any bad refereeing decisions whilst this is going on to be honest. Won't matter either way in the long run with the players pissing about and embarrassing themselves every week. Cunts

Just because every fan forum thinks "their team is being fcuked over by refs" it doesn't follow that no teams are being fcuked over by refs.
The same flawed argument is used by the 'no agenda' faction on this forum.

I honestly believe that as a club, be it players, management and even us fans give the opposition and officials an easy time of it. Some grounds are like bear pits, so that opponents get to feel a fear factor, whilst when a decision such as last weekend occurs (and most weekends this season) the officials hear a barrage of noise which intimidates them. Look at Anfield on Hillsborough memorial day. The noise was such that it swayed the officials in Liverpool's favour. When Stones wiped Raheem out the other week the noise levels were tame, mind lots had left. It's possible and maybe even likely that if the level of derision is huge then they will give the decision in our favour. In short I honestly believe that we have become far too welcoming and kind. Let them know what we think, next time we get the likes of Clattenburg, Madley or East make it difficult for them to screw us over again.
