take a chance on cahill and arteta

Agree with pretty much everything that has been said regarding arteta and cahill but i would honestly rather have rodwell,

Think that lad if he can stay on track is future of english football

These players are great players but they are top six at best. We are going higher than that.

Rodwell is the one. Blue Ripple will be on later with his weekly question and this is the first time since his day that a player has reminded me so much of what we lost.

I will ask Paul on his thread what he thinks of the similarities.

Everton fan in peace here, don't worry I am not going to stay on here and annoy the hell out of you like some others do.

I just saw this topic and was interested with other peoples views on Cahill and Arteta. First of all Cahill has been a fantastic signing for us and was a great bit of business by Moyes, he is a modern day Everton legend but this season he hasn't been at his best. Although I don't think it will ever happen if Cahill was to sign for City he would be an average signing at best in my opinion. I love him at Everton but I really cannot see him fitting in at City and into your team.

Arteta on the other hand would be a superb signing for your team. He is the type of player City are missing at the minute and I think he would slot right into your team. I think if Arteta didn't get injured last season then we would have had quite a few offers for him in the summer and possibly a Spain cap to his name by now.

As for Rodwell I think if we do well and break the sky four soon then he will stay because of the money being brought in by the CL but if not then I don't think it will be to long before Bill Kenwright is planning a move for him.

Morning Everton fan here I registered on this forum a few years ago ( as i have done with a few forums of other clubs ) and i enjoyed browsing here , I used to read posts from well educated fans supporting a club you could say in a similar position/situation to ourselves , In the last twelve months or so the posts from a massive percentage of City fans have become frankly laughable and after reading this thread i wonder what has happned to all the decent City fans.

We all know you cann afford to buy any player in the world certinally any player in our squad but comments like get Arteta for £10m you might have to double that amount and you think you signed our best player in Lescott im sorry but you never even signed our best centre back.

Cahill is better than Ireland
Arteta is better than Barry
Pienarr is better than SWP
Fallaini is possibly better than De Jong (not a lot in it but Fallaini offers more going forward!)
and Rodwell is better than MJohnson (again possibly not a lot in it but where Johnson looked like he's gonna be a very good player long term, Rodwell looks like he'll be top class!)

So to be honest i'd be happy to pick up ANY of their midfield! And this is where, as well as the full back and goal keeper areas, I feel we are well behind being a Champions Lg team right now and possibly for another 3 or 4 years yet!

-- Sat Mar 27, 2010 10:15 am --

Don't tarr us all with the same brush mate, although it's hard not to! I feel exactly the same about many of my fellow City fans! All this "we'll buy your club and burn it down!" shit, this "we're bigger than Everton Spurs and Villa" tone that has crept into many-a-blues outlooks, this horrible arrogance that has become a feature of this once fantastic support is really putting a massive downer for me on the excitement of our future potential!!

Don't get me wrong, I hate Moyes! as soon as the words "Joleans not for sale, stop rocking our boat!" shit came out if his mouth I knew he was just trying to make us look like the bad guys and that Lescott was absolutely for sale! but the arrogance within our support is sickening, and I hate it!

We aren't all like that tho fella, there are plenty of decent Blues about, it just seems all the idiots come on Bluemoon!

Stick to eating burgers cos you know fuck all about football. The last time I looked at the table city mid field has us above everton. That is all.

I'm not sure if that was aimed at me? if it was: Bendtner and Berbatov play for teams that are way ahead of us but I'd still much rather have Tevez! Just because we're above Everton doesn't mean every one of our players is better than everyone of theirs does it?

If we had Everton's midfield balance and options we'd be Top 4 comfortably.

None of our central midfielders are bad players, but they are all much of a muchness. Too much of the same qualities.

To say he knows "fuck all about football" is bang out of order really.

The few tims ive seen City it does look like yu like some creativity in the middle of the field i dont see a need for two holding midfield players at home , Tevez has been brilliant i think RSC is a good premiership goalscorer but looks unfit and Bellamy for me is wasted on the wing , good luck though id like to see you get 4th.

With all due respect if you dont make top four world class players wont want to come to City.

Cahill is better than Ireland
Arteta is better than Barry

Think you´re getting mixed up mate - compare Cahill to Barry and Arteta to Ireland and it´s much closer
Cahill imo would have made a great Aussie rules player - he´s an athlete who throws himself about and is brave but in pure footballing terms not on the same planet as Ireland - pointless going for a player like that - Arteta or Rodwell however...

Cahill is quite limited hes technically not that good , not a great passer of the ball , no great skill but he has this amazing talent to get into positions and score vital goals.

Some people think its football manager suggesting you need eleven world class players is crazy Man Utd probably have one maybe two world class players , Chelsea two or three and Arsenal probably one maybe two.

I know it is still at bit raw but why hasn't a genuine top 6 bought this lad he is mustard and gets goals from midfield on a regular basis.
He is an aussie they just hate to lose, I would be looking at arteta also as buying these 2 from the skint blue side would have me pissing my pants at golum's reaction. They are 2 class acts though and 10 mill 4 each would have the board thinking not sure how much left on thier contarcts though.

Arteta is class and i'd love him here. Cahill is too old and i think in decline. His actual play around the pitch isn't great either. He is a work horse though and will fight for every ball and scores his share of goals in the box, but Cahill, not for me.

Arteta and Fell i'd take. Even Jageilka who i think is a class defender who doesn't get involved in the stuff our defenders do to get caught out of position.

4th? you surely meant 1st? :)

The players we have are simply not good enough but the minute you say anything different you get tarred with the 'you must be a rag jibes', well i am a fukin mad blue and do my best to go to as many games as possible, 2kids/mortgage etc, but i truely believe that were we want to be then we need better players, i'll get my tin hat on but remember that this is if we wanna be in at least the top two of the Prem, my opinion.

Given, just about good enough. Zab,great squad player(honest player that fans love),Micah not good enough,Toure not good enough, Vinny maybe in time but not good enough now, Bridge poss not good enough, swp not good enough, nidge prob not good enough,Barry not good enough, rsc not good enough(injured?),Petrov not good enough,Ade squad player, Garrido not good enough, Viera 5 years to late but could do a job short term,Neds needs a run then we'll see.

Tevez, get in any top side and fantastic, Adam, tremendous prospect and am very plussed about him, give him a run ffs, Bellamy, one game a week only?top player though, Boyata, our future captain.

These above are based on playing 3quarters of a season(squad rotation etc) and sustaining a top two finish. Just my opinion anyway, i usually keep out of the teamtalk arguments/opinions but i'm feeling brave.

Or maybe they are all good enough but just need the right guidance and time. CTID.

cahill would never leave everton for a rival team he loves the club, dont think he would even fit into your team, youse have got to many great strikers, cahill plays behind the lone striker otherwise he is quite useless. as for arteta i honestly couldnt see him joining another prem team, if he was toleave i think it would be back to spain like he has always said.
