Taking a season off

I'm debating with myself whether to take next season off as a fan. It's nothing to do with the present results (I was there when we were shit) but more a couple of personal reasons mixed in with one financial. However, there's my seasoncard to worry about. To renew or not to renew? That is the question.

What's the likelihood of getting another good seat in South Stand Upper 216 or 217 when applying again for the 16/17 season? I understand they sell out most years and I'm reliant on availability when I'm ready to buy again. I've got a great seat where I am and it took a while to squeeze in there. However, then there's perhaps £650 or so to pay for something I won't be using. I'm optimistic I could probably shift it for the Derby, Chelsea and Liverpool but then there's West Brom, Hull and Sunderland. If I upgrade to Platinum for Viagogo then there's something like a 6 game limit to sell.

Someone suggested to me that many existing seasoncard holders will relocate to the new 3rd tier for cheaper tickets but there's no guarantee. Has anyone ever left and come back a year or so later?
You'll be able to sell it on (on match by match basis) in the ticket thread on here, shirley? If you have a mate who uses the same entrance as you, give him the ticket to pass on to the buyer. Then, once they're in, the buyer can give the card back to your mate.

No such thing as taking a season off as a city fan, strap on a pair lad

I'd imagine it'll sell quickly for the big matches but not for Stoke on a Tuesday night in November. I think it'll be too much hassle to sort out on a match by match basis.

The advice to sell it as a whole for a season is good. I just need to work out the logistics for payment. If I go by quarterly DD then the buyer has to ensure I've paid for the card otherwise it'll be deactivated and they've lost out. I'd hope City wouldn't be too sensitive about me doing this, either. I hope it doesn't violate the terms and conditions!

Strictly speaking, it probably does! They're not transferable, are they?

Trust me on this one...

Sell it for the full season before it starts for full whack cash upfront, but agree whoever buys it can use it to buy aways/cup games as well, If we get to a final tough Tits.

If you try and sell it game to game,
You will sell easily for the big games you might want to attend anyway, and you will find yourself struggling to give it away for the rest.

I appreciate that not everyone is flush with cash in these economically trying times, but I can never ever imagine the days when I don't take up my seat at City.

I've always said that when the butterfies go before I get to the game go is the time to call it a day, but hapilly that day hasn't yet arrived

It's a variety of reasons. I relocated to London in 2005 and have been traveling up for most home matches since. It's costing me a lot of money and I've also made many personal sacrifices to keep going. I've also undertaken a big personal project to try and write a novel so it's going to need as much spare time as possible considering I hold down a full time job too. Nobody can accuse me of being a glory hunter if I'm stepping down for a season whilst we're challenging in the top 4.

The general consensus is to renew and shift it as best I can. I think I'll take the advice. It took me 3 seasons to squeeze in to 216 and I largely love it in there.
