Taking a season off

Certainly renew. If you give up the seat, you may never get another.

Also, if you're writing a novel, attending the odd match could be very inspiring. Or not.....obviously.

don't go platinum in the hope of selling it on viagogo, you will just be wasting more money, like a previous poster said you will finish up giving it away.

Many claim they're at breaking point with the prices now but if someone is there to replace them, having not spent £££ in previous seasons, then I'll probably be stuck.

I've actually written very little about football. The idea I have is set in Manchester but I'm concentrating on new arrivals to the city and music too.

I'm debating with myself whether to take next season off as a fan. It's nothing to do with the present results (I was there when we were shit) but more a couple of personal reasons mixed in with one financial. However, there's my seasoncard to worry about. To renew or not to renew? That is the question.

What's the likelihood of getting another good seat in South Stand Upper 216 or 217 when applying again for the 16/17 season? I understand they sell out most years and I'm reliant on availability when I'm ready to buy again. I've got a great seat where I am and it took a while to squeeze in there. However, then there's perhaps £650 or so to pay for something I won't be using. I'm optimistic I could probably shift it for the Derby, Chelsea and Liverpool but then there's West Brom, Hull and Sunderland. If I upgrade to Platinum for Viagogo then there's something like a 6 game limit to sell.

Someone suggested to me that many existing seasoncard holders will relocate to the new 3rd tier for cheaper tickets but there's no guarantee. Has anyone ever left and come back a year or so later?

Once you give it up that'll be it. Why not renew and then charge face value per game and allow family/friends to use it. I haven't been this season due to personal circumstances however my lad has gone to ever game, and sort of has said he'll give me £30 per game, not that I've seen any brass yet.

I've spoken to other Blues about this also and the overwhelming consensus is that I keep the seasoncard to ensure I get in the same area again. I won't consider sitting in some parts of the ground. If it's about £650 over the year lost then it's just over £50 a month. I'm unsure I'd let this debt come out of my account unless it was anything other than City! We really do have an irrational belief in our club, don't we?

Thanks all.

My wife asked me the same question last week over our 2 seasoncards. Yes, it's not cheap but luckily we can afford it.

Couldn't believe it - the divorce papers are being drawn up as we speak!
