Tales of Blue - Kit Symons

You got wound up about Kit but not Danny Mills?
I think I'd become apathetic toward the team by then, whereas during the Ball/Clarke/etc era the demise was fresh and really wounding. Mills is an absolute ****, but he was never going to hear me from the 3rd tier of the East Stand.

Kit was very honest and open about his spell with us and pretty much said what you just did.

To be honest the criticism was OTT and didn’t reflect well on the fans. Edghill got pelters during the Coventry?? match, and Andy Dibble against Oxford when we lost 2-3, but with Kit the criticism was more sustained and a regular occurrence.

I can honestly say that I've never got on the case of a City player....except for him. He drove me crazy with his calamitous style of play. I'm not proud of it, but we went up to Scotland for a pre-season tour during his time with City and at the Kilmarnock game I gave him dogs abuse...hope he didn't actually hear me.
Yes I think being a football fan is like life you sometimes take it out on the wrong people. The club was a ship wreck, ran by amateurs and in some ways the players were victims also. Probably many a career ruined by signing for us during that time. I would love to say I never got on players back but I was as guilty also at that time.

Never really understood getting on the back of Edghill or Symons who were clearly trying, if not always executing as we would wish. And as if constant personal barracking is likely to help the player improve!

Pretty sure Edghill left the pitch at HT in tears v Coventry.

Edgehill was properly hammered by the fans. Kit too, but as captain of a team in chaos and a fairly cumbersome error prone CB that's understandable. Liked an own goal and scored against us on his return with Fulham iirc - typical city

Yes I remember that to. Incredible to think back that the ground could be so toxic. Im binge watching the Sunderland doc and they were pretty much getting on the players back from preseason when they lost a friendly to Celtic, after relegation to the Championship. Hard to reconcile with fans doing that now, with everything rosey in the garden, but when despair sets in that os how fanbases behave.

I remember when we played Jamaica in a friendly, a pre WC warm up game for them. Me and my brother going mad at yet another Symons error, and the oh so cool Rasta’s sat in front of us laughing and telling us to calm down. They had a point, it was a friendly after all.

lot of respect for Kit, especially following the relegation game at Stoke, we stopped off at the Swan in Knutsford coming home, a lot of blues had same idea, so did a few of players Rosler, Dickov, Kit & Tommy Wright were there, Kit got a bit of abuse and calmly he didn't back down and had a discussion with a few who were giving it him, he looked and spoke as if he was as gutted as rest of us, earned my respect that day
