Haha@ the bitter Evertonian who was on. Still in denial that we are one of the big boys.

We must have dream't we got out of our cl group last year as he said we never have lol
CL is a night in front of the telly for some!
Even Durham saying that to get out the groups you need the best players and buying Barklay would be the ideal strategy- startling bit of common sense from a twat like him.

He has been remarkably normal today

Last night he was off the scale,it must really annoy him that blues don't fall for it apart from the odd one or two

We don't need to go on national radio and make tw*ts of ourselves, Karen.

That's what the Matchday thread is for.

Heard a bit of Colin Murrays show this morning and they too were having the "City ruining another English player" debate, backed by Pearce saying Barkley should stay put.

Then smarmy Des Kelly chimes in - "well Everton got £24m for Joleon Lescott so they will be eager to take more money off City" - ok then, since that transfer Joleon Lescott has ..

- 1x FA Cup Winners medal
- 1x Capital One Cup winners medal
2x Prem lge winners medals
1x Community Shield winners medal

He has umpteen England caps including playing in every England game at euro 2012 and scoring as well.

He has played in the Champions Lge including playing at the Nou Camp vs Barca, and featured in a City side that went to Munich and beat the reigning Champs Lge winners 3-2.

In that period of 5 years Everton has won ..... (drum roll) .... f**k all.

Id say City and Joleon got the better of that deal.

Every time City are linked with buying an English player now we get Rodwell, Johnson, Sinclair and Richards thrown at us as stifling English players.

Points:
Rodwell - 2 seasons at City, first season almost totally wiped out by injury, otherwise Mancini who did play him when fit would most likely have played him more. Pellegrini simply thought he was not go enough. Lets see how he gets on at Sunderland

Johnson - came to City in Jan 2011 from Boro, whilst at City played 73 times (not bad for 2 1/2 years) and during his time at City was when he played\was called up by England. Since returning to Sunderland he has got nowhere near the England team and his better form was whilst at City. Also won an FA Cup and League Title with City.

Scott Sinclair loaned at to Plymouth, QPR, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Birmingham and Wigan between 2007 - 2010, but no mention of Chelsea destroying a young English talent whilst this was happening. 2 seasons with Swansea (1 in the championship) before joining City in Aug 2012 and has simply not shown enough to warrant more regular football. Yes a bad buy by City.

Richards - 10 years at City with 179 appearances an up until getting injured at the Olympics in summer 2012 was still very much in Citys' plans, then got badly injured again when returning v Swansea in October of 2012. Without those 2 injuries it is likely he may well have stayed important in Citys plans at least, as with the Clichy and Kolarov rotation, he would gave been seen as the other right back option with Zabaleta. Won England caps whilst playing for City and when still playing well for City was ignored by Capello.

If Barkley was to become a City player say next summer (and that is simply speculation at present as he may well move somewhere else or stay at Everton) then if good enough and free of injury he will play enough football at the club.

By the way how is Shaw getting on at Utd along with Ashley Young, Chris Smalling, Tom Cleverely (deemed not good enough and thus now with Villa), Danny Wellbeck (deemed not good enough for Utd and now at Arsenal), and Phil Jones. How many English players will be regulars in Utds' side over the course of this season, especially if they go out and buy a central defender in Jan (Vlaar and Hummels mentioned - neither English)

Chelsea only have 2 English players playing regularly (Terry and Cahill) but not much said about this.

Arsenal English regulars - Ox-Chamberlain, Walcott, Wellbeck, Wilshire (and with the no.of midfield players will Wilshire and Ox-Chamberlain play regularly rather than Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, Arteta ? and when Giroud is fit again will Wellbeck play as often with Sanchez or will he have to be left out to accommodate Giroud ?

The truth is all teams (with at present the exception of Liverpool which is only the last 18 months) have minimal English players playing regularly.

How English is Tottenham and at present they look a team going slightly backwards.

Everton themselves have Baines, Barry, Jagielka , Stones and Barkley as regularly played English personnel.

Thus it is not just City that have shortage of English players playing regularly, and yet this is always the bandwagon that gets jumped on.

Think I heard Colin Hendry on it today, sounded like he has a book out or is writing one.

No idea it had got so vicious: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.colinhendrylies.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.colinhendrylies.com/</a>
