Technically, no, it's not the sack, but effectively it's the same. Not renewing a contract means bye bye - we don't want you any more.
Most managers don't get sacked, their contract is paid up and terminated - but the euphemism is 'sacked' (as we all know that's what it is)

Some in the media have started calling him a lame duck too, like they do with US presidents who are leaving office soon. I've heard it said that it will affect the players and also it will be embarrassing to our owner if we win something. They will get to use the phrase whatever the season's outcome I reckon.

I interpreted it very much as a comment on pellegrini's less than excitable demeanour, and his lugubrious inscrutability, which does at times border on the cadaverous, and I also took into account the slim likelihood of a talkshit presenter being able to use metaphor or simile in a witty and intelligent manner, and the inability of the average talkshit listener to understand them.
Just another sly little dig from the very nervous.
 
Here's a thought - Pellers will be 62 and his contract will be up next year - maybe HE could decide not to renew - maybe he has already communicated this intention to the owners thus paving the way for them to court Pep without fear of him having a strop - maybe he fancies going back home after a few years in Europe - of course the press would interpret that as sacked...............

Sure I have read somewhere this is exactly what is going to happen ,thats why he signed only a 3 year contract, but why let the truth get in the way of disrespectful City story

You'd think we just about avoided relegation last season the way some 'experts' are addressing us this season.

Great radio listening to Tyler describing the Aguero moment as the greatest.said he shed a tear afterwards with the emotion of being there. God bless him, salt-of-the-earth etc
 
They seem to be doing the rounds with the Sky staff, Martin Tyler talking about the Aguero goal being the best moment and how he had to wipe a few tears away. God I love it when people talk about that moment. Said he'd love to speak to Aguero about it one day.
