I feel ridiculously conflicted reading this story. I simultaneously feel that he is one lucky little bastard but genuinely outraged that if it had been a male teaching assistant humping a school girl he 100% would not have had his jail sentence suspended and would have probably spent the rest of his life in fear of being battered by vigilantes.

We are told that girls are more mature than boys of the same age, so a woman having sex with an under age boy is really a worse crime than a man having sex with an underage girl.
This makes the lenient sentence even more wrong.

There are huge double standards when it comes to sexual offences. In fact, in legal terms, the term 'rape' only applies when a man is the perpetrator. The system is broken.
I think society gears us to automatically believe a man is malicious in his actions whereas women are all innocent. In the case of teacher/student relations we just assume that if the teacher is a man that he's acted in a predatory manner, with the female student being all innocent and vulnerable. This obviously isn't the case most of the time with the female student consenting to the relationship.
When its the other way around and we're all 'lucky bastard', 'go on son', and the female teacher walks away with a slap on the wrist. It's wrong but it's never gonna change.
What bewilders me is the people calling teachers animals and perverts would probably gladly shag a 16 year old who's a couple months older than the 15 year olds being banged by teachers.

Men don't stand up for their rights out of fear of backlash(labeled a misogynist or sexist immediately by defensive feminists who are not actually about equal rights at all) is why there are double standards in the legal system(it's the same all over the western world), we are not very supportive of each other as a gender so it's only going to get worse unless we stop contributing to it and speak up when we notice double standards.
