Team For Liverpool

Liverpool have no fit LB so AJ on the right is a must.

Resting as many players as possible might be the order of the day. One point at Liverpool plus every advantage going into the semi might be better than three points at Liverpool and risking tiredness or injury to Tevez, Silva, Yaya, NDJ, Kompany. Zabaleta in particular is going to be vital for the semi. If Nani is fit (and Richards isn't), he has the most important job on the pitch. If Nani isn't, Zab might be asked to stop Valencia. We have good options, Boateng at CB, Dzeko up front, Milner and Barry in the centre. It's time to make the most of the squad depth.

Resting players in a game going for our prime target of 4th place would be an interesting decision!

It would take some balls to say, (to that team) you are easily good enough to win this game, and (to himself) we are good enough to cope if you don't.

People slate him as cautious but I think he's actually a risk-taker of sorts, he plays weaker teams knowing full well he'll get slated, because it's a risk worth taking, having his best players 100% for the most important games is his top priority. There are 8 games left in the league, but only one semi-final.

To me it makes sense; whichever team we put out, I think the Liverpool game is hard to win, and the draw is the more likely result. They will be out to bounce back from WBA and they've done well against the big teams, it's the only sort of ego-boost they will get this year.

We shouldn't get carried away by the Sunderland game. Our guys were particularly hot that day. That is unlikely to happen every week. And really, are folks that clueless to believe the great play was strictly a function of formation change? We looked great in a couple of other games playing a different formation too. And then we looked sucky playing those formations in other games.

Everyone was having one of their best games... Boyatta, Komps, Lesc, Kolarov, De Jong, Yaya, Silva, Balotelli, Johnson, Viera in 20 seconds. Only Hart and Tevez were having games that wasn't close to their previous best. Hart mostly coz his teammates made him a spectator coz they were that good.

It doesn't happen that often for most if not all your players to be on a high. So expect a less impressive performance regardless of formation. But at least we now know what our potential is :)

That said, I think we will play our best squad- even though Mancini wants that trophy, he knows CL is a priority for so many more reasons.

Reckon he'll bring jonno and balo on after 65 if things arent going well

I haven't actually got a clue.

What happend against Sunderland won't work to the same extent against Liverpool.
With Glen Johnson, Agger and Kelly out they are seriously weak in midfield and defence and that is something we must take advantage of because with Carroll, Suarez and Kuyt upfront they are dangerous so because of that i would bring in Milner or Barry but then who do you leave out? Johnson? Silva? Balotelli? It's so hard and Liverpool would love that problem but that is what Mancini gets paid for so it will be interesting to see.

imo, you go with the same lineup but swap Boyata for Zabs. Although Boyata played very very well and did little wrong imo, but he will be under more pressure to defend away to Liverpool.

I wonder about this one though. I am pretty sure that RM will defer back to his 3 DM strategy away to Liverpool and drop AJ or Balo from the starting team in favor of Milner or Barry (hopefully Milner).

I could be wrong, but that is the RM I have come to know.

Same team but slightly different formation than that whch started against Sunderland (though we did switch to it for part of the 2nd half).
