Teen dies in electric bike crash in Salford.

I drive down Langworthy Road most days on the way to work, there’s loads of these kids with these bikes and the obligatory balaclava going up and down it, like a previous poster stated, if the Police are following you then just stop.
I only live round the corner myself....I know only too well how common, and seemingly normal, this scenario is.
As in any situation involving the Police...if required to stop or comply, then fucking do so....or else,as we see every day on world news,it's only ever gonna end in tears or,in this fucked up society, riots.

As soon as you pass your test you can immediately get a high powered car. Maybe there should be a regulation that limits you to a low performance vehicle, same as 125cc after passing bike test. ;)
I've always thought they should put limiters like the ones on buses, HGVs etc in a vehicle before any driver under 25 can use them.

I mean, it's not like anyone can regularly do more than 30/40mph anyway. It is amusing on Deansgate watching the Fast X crowd revving the Bugatti whey! only to stop 30 feet later at a red light or stationary traffic.

It's like, where were you going pal?

Some of these kids are not very bright...

Don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh.

Think the ones on heavy vehicles here are at 65mph, which is pretty much the national speed limit in any case, so no reason for complaints there. Should be easy to use one to restrict acceleration as well.

The Police were not even following him at the time of the crash it seems:
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said traffic officers followed the teenager in Salford on Thursday afternoon until bollards blocked their vehicle's path.
The boy rode on before his e-bike was in collision with the ambulance, said North West Ambulance Service.

Some of these Electric bikes are stupid fast!
They are but they are also not legal for road use in UK. For bikes 15mph max with pedal assist, throttle 4mph max anything outside of that requires type approval for road use registering and the relevant licence and insurance etc. They are the modern equivalent of mini moto's from the 90's took a few deaths before they started confiscating and crushing which is the way these will have to go.

I work with this lad’s aunty. Quite sad how these accident will continue to happen due to suped-up e-bikes which can travel up to 50mph ridden by clueless kids with no crash helmets etc. The police should have the power to confiscate any e-bike they see which is travelling at stupid speeds.
They do

Problem is they make it far too easy to remove the restrictions. Its just as bad with cars and motorbikes.

Some of the more powerful german cars have electronic limiters that kick in at a ludicrous 155mph (I believe due to some German Laws), but spend a few quid and you can have it removed.

Want an extra 20bhp well we can remap the ecu.

Want to make your restricted moped quicker, remove the restrictor and take the baffles out of the exhaust.
