television dates

At the very top level the game has moved on from the archaic 3pm saturday kick offs.
Friday night matches are a wonderful idea and long overdue.

Im personally hoping for a move away from the standard 7.45pm kick off times midweek. People are working much later these days and its struggle for a lot of people to make 7.45. Something like 8.30pm kick off would be much more civilised.

not for families it isnt, there maybe no school the next day but a game finishing at about 10.20pm then the hassle of getting home, its bad enough now.

Wouldn't get to Friday night kick offs would do well to even get to the ground by 8 fighting the M6 Friday afternoon.
Will be selling my match ticket if/when these start.

And dont get home until well after midnight now for midweek matches having left at 4 in the afternoon to get there in the first place.
Knocked euro matches on the head this season because of it.

err.... what???? exactly WHAT is archaic about a 3pm Saturday kick off precisely?

People and society have moved on. 5.30 or 12.45 are much more convenient time to play on a saturday.
I actually think it would be better if we reversed the weekends games - so the main day to play is sunday, and then have 2 games televised on a saturday, one early kick off and one half five.

You are talking about children who are probably too young to be attending even 7.45 kick off games.
whats the problem with a 14 or 15 yr old getting home at 11.30 after a night match? Nothing exactly.

Theres little difference in an 8 yr old getting home at 10.45 or 11.30 on a night match - both times are too late and they probably wouldn't attend the match no matter what time the kick off was, hence big parts of the family stand having empty seats on night matches already

Yeah that would be a fantastic idea for people reliant on public transport!!

That's the thing they go on about how the world has changed 24/7 society, it's complete bollocks, if that's the case why does everything change on a weekend? Sundays are a nightmare for public transport, predominatly it's still mon-fri 9 to 5.

The Northern Baptist is Sky TV's typical brainwashed fan.No thought whatsoever for the travelling supporter, people with kids, etc etc .

i use public transport for all matches, home and away. The only time I've struggled is getting back from far flung away matches midweek

There is a big difference for parents, its manageable at the moment but later times will see attendances drop even further. Stupid idea

Not really. My lad is 10 and i don't take him to night games. when he gets to secondary school he can come midweek with me. I stand by that if the kick off is 7.45 or 8.30.

Oh and football doesn't and shouldn't revolve around parents and children, and I say that being a parent myself

Remember taking my lad out of school for a so called dentist appointment at 8yrs old, driving down to Brentford for a mid week cup match that was called off at 6pm and doing the same again for the rearranged game on the Saturday. Took him out of school many a time for a mid week away match and he still managed to get a masters at a top uni, the downside is he's obsessed with watching city away

Friday eve, few beers before the game, few afterwards. Into town, good night out. Continue celebrating a good win next day. I think I can live with that. (Only "problem" is you can't wear colours to the game as you can't get anywhere in town)

Miles better than the fucking Monday fixture. The **** who invented that should be shot.

Yeah, but it being Friday, lets move kick off time back to 8.10 or similar, to give a bit more travel time. Will esp suit teams who have a large % of their support from local area, but if it replaces Monday it has to be a winner. And no problems for those who take kids on a Friday eve

Amen brother. These are the glory days my friend. And ok the Monday nights are shit when you're playing, but when you get in from work after the weekend in the cold, there's fuck all on tv and you stick the tv on and see a couple of teams go at it every week it's worth serving your time on the odd Monday every now and then IMO.

"Boo hoo there's no Saturday 3 o clock kick offs anymore". Give a fuck. Just means I get to watch more football more often. If football went back to 3 pm kick offs for everyone there'd be a big hooray from all the too cool for school characters who poke fun at easy targets that the rest of us don't give a fuck about, then we'd spend our Sundays watching the Holly oaks omnibus with our birds, jibbing around after our 3pm games trying to watch highlights of games that we currently watch live. Sling it. Friday nights will never be the same again come August next season. Honestly when I stop to think about the potential of Friday night football, whether going to the game or watching another team on tv, the opportunities really are endless. And when u wake up rough as fuck the next day, sit back, strap yourself in cos there's a 12.30 game followed by Jeff and the boys at 3 then we turn up the heat a bit at half 5. Kill an hour or two with some Spanish footy before match of the day at half 10. We'll call it a night before they show the championship stuff, cos there's a big day back on it for super Sunday. Then comes Monday night football and we go again

Just feel how bad this close season is. The transfer forum is like a paranoid schizophrenic crack den. Imagine this lack of football every week. Suck my balls lads and sign me up Mr murdoch, I'm your bitch

But yea in answer to the op - I'm hoping the Bournemouth game on the 17th of October gets moved cos there's a major lazer gig in town the night before. I'll take a Monday

yes it does, and has done so from the year dot. as with others we are 4th and 5th generation blues, its ALL about parents and kids. sky BT or whoever can pay what they like if it wasn't for match going families football would be no specticle and hence not worth broadcasting.
as for friday football its a disgrace. no bother to me, i live 10 mins from the stadium, i can even take the day off for aways but for some people it completely rules them out attending, home or away. the clubs should be careful what they wish for, they have let the devil in to thier home.

Would be better for me if all our games were played on a Saturday. But I'm glad there not as it means people want to watch us every week.
