Went carol singing at Les Dawson's house one Christmas.

He opened the door to see two very little girls (aged about 9) singing earnestly and he just stood back in silence for a few minutes to let us finish. He was lovely. Had time and patience (even though he had just hit fame and appeared on This is Your Life). He had a bit of banter with us after, but without being patronising at all.

Very VERY nice man. Things like that mean a lot when you are a kid.

I was on 606 to Danny Baker, back in the day, outing Adrian Heath for being shit, while travelling back up the M40 after getting beaten 4-0 at Loftus Road... and I was quoted in the Guardian on the Monday as the "disgruntled City fan..." saying something like "he couldn't have scored if the keeper had gone home"... We weren't happy!

Sad, but true.
