What's really strange about this situation is that the slimy stones, goldbridges & nevilles of this world don't want him to resign or be fired, but they have absolutely no idea why.

Maybe they actually believe that football is played in the boardroom, in the marketing offices in trafford, in the "culture and core values" of a business entity, when one of their own, the fucking detestable Mark Hughes, showed us that it's not that at all and the moment he left our new era begun. It wasn't coincidence.

It's decided by players and a manager who can manage the players. Strategy, tactics, desire and skill are all football is. Especially when you've spent fucking billions. It would be funny if wasn't so sad. Wait, it's not sad, it's fucking incredibly funny.

Southgate becoming United manager is the stuff absolute dreams are made of. He would get them relegated 100%.

Disagree. He'd definitely make them better defensively , and harder to beat.
BUT, they'd play dreary, stupefyingly boring, soul-destroying , no-risk "football".
Grind out enough 1-0 or 2-1 wins to finish top half of the table - maybe top 6 now & then ; forget top 3.

He'd bring stability & safety, which is what they need now , and also about the best they're capable of . . . but after a couple of seasons he'd get hounded out for under-achievement by their deluded self-entitled fans demanding "entertainment" and "success" by a team that "plays the United way".

So it will continue , on & on , to a point where Sam & Dyche are turning them down
