Eyam - fascinating little town

Haddon Hall - stunning old house

Shrewsbury - amazing old pubs

Iron bridge - amazing history

The Isle of wight - it's like going back in time

I have to admit though it is Wales and Scotland where most of the remote , quiet , magical places that I love are

9. The walk from Craster to Low Newton and back, past Dunstanburgh Castle, with a pint in the Ship Inn at Low Newton

That's my #1 favourite coast walk.

My favourite hill walk is in Wales though - the track up to Tre'r Ceiri iron age fort on the Llyn peninsula.

Stunning walk when you get good weather and Llyn often gets a micro climate. I must admit though walking across the coast past Rhiw and watching the sunset over ynys enlli is for me the greatest view and most fantastic place on earth. Porto Ysgo one of my favourite spots on earth. There are so many amazing spots on the Welsh coast all the way from Swansea around the Gower and up to Llandudno.

The North west of Scotland also an amazing place but probably the most alive place I have ever been is Drummisie moor (culloden). We went out to the battlefield close to midnight and walked across the moor to where the highland armies were based it was an amazing experience.

Good thread this, always get a few trying to be funny though for some reason posting shite.

My favourite places

1 - Walk from Ambleside over Loughrigg Fell past Rydal and Grasmere
2 - Bowness on Windermere
3 - Dovedale valley in the Peak District
4 - Kendal Calling festival
5 - Lathkill Dale in the Peak District
6 - Royal Exchange theatre Manchester
7 - Harrogate
8 - Alton Towers
9 - Bude Cornwall
10 - Shoreditch London

I came across the Sherman tank memorial when I was on a cycle tour down there back in the late 80s, it was the first I'd heard of it.

Slightly similar, my sister-in-law used to rent an ex-coastguard cottage on Shingle Street in Suffolk, the scene of a wartime mystery legend.

Which reminds me of another place well worth visiting: Orford Ness.

Leicester Cathedral Thursday 26th March is the date and place of the re-burial of King Richard 3rd, thousands expected to attend so should be a good day out if you are into history, I was all set to go but i'v got to go in hospital that day for a minor operation
His body is being taken from Bosworth battlefield where he was killed in 1485 to Leicester Tomorrow Sunday 22nd where he will be laid in state until Thursday
