Tennis Thread

anyone watching Olympic tennis yet?

There's no talk of it in the Olympics thread, and I can't be bothered on some of the other sports that I'm not (yet) watching, so I'll ask here.

Nice comeback by Dan Evans in the 3rd set today, and we're one set away from getting Nadal vs. Joker in the next round.
Here in the UK, the Olympic coverage of tennis is pretty poor. So much so that we’ve paid a bargain price of £3.99 to get Eurosport for the month. Haven’t paid too much attention but the family watched The Nadal/Alcaraz doubles match last night. Got Nadal on now.

Understood, in the US, tennis comes only with the Peacock package, but most who follow EPL already have that subscribed to.

Nadal/Alcaraz was quite the impressive match against a good #6 ranked Argentine team. Nadal's net play was fantastic, and he more than carried his own in that partnership.

As you see, Nadal is now down 0-3 in the 2nd set, just like he and Alcaraz were yesterday. It will be interesting to see how this match goes. Cheers Rob! ;-)

Games 3-5 in the 3rd set were simply amazing. Both Fucsovics and Nadal go down 15-40 on their serve, but both manage to come back in games 3 and 4.

Game 5 sees Nadal break again after breaking up 40-15, so we'll see if he can lock in now up 3-2 with the next serve.

Nadal - Djokovic LX is now on. Olympic promoters got what they wanted for a round 2 blockbuster. Kudos to Fucsovics for great play today.

I'm guessing tomorrow night prime time under the lights.

Hopefully Nadal has enough rest, though maybe his double match comes up soon too.

Tommy Paul is through and Coco is up soon. Good tennis thus far!

Novak Djokovic vs. Rafael Nadal: Olympics Men Singles Second Round

Nadal and Djokovic have faced each other 59 times throughout their careers, including in 29 different tennis tournament finals, but this will be the first time the two legends meet in the Olympics.

The Olympic matchup for the ages will take place around 1:30 p.m. CEST/ 12:30 p.m. BST / 7:30 a.m. EDT) on Monday as the second match played on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

He's had a great comeback in the 2nd set, but that last break just hurt big time.

Joker put his fingers to his ear to get the crowd going, and he got boos back.

There's no question he's in Rafa's house with the guests there today.

Congrats to Djokovic today. Just had a better game and conditioning today.

I'd still bet the field, but he looked good today in his quest to improve upon his 2008 Bronze.

Recall Federer never won Gold (edit: in singles, but he did in doubles) either, as Andy Murray saw to that in 2012. Of the "Big Four" only Andy (2) and Rafael (1) have won the Singles Gold Medal.

Nadal's farewell. Not as successful as Djokovic, not as refined as Federer, maybe not as talented as Borg, but my favourite tennis player..

I take it you're just referring to singles, as Federer won a Gold medal in 2008?
