I take it you weren't brought up in Burnage. It was a sprawling council estate and there were plenty of real hard cases around - and loads of blues.

Behave yourself. I lived in Burnage from 1968 until 1981. It was a decent place to live, with few or no 'trouble' areas. In fact, many of the South Manchester suburbs were quite 'genteel'.
The Gallaghers 'lairy' / tough guy reputations are largely media and record label exaggeration. Just local scallies, blagging their way through life, just like any gang of local lads.
