Terry Cooke and Tony Vaughan

I can't help you find Terry Cooke but if you go to the City store they are still doing 'Wing Commander Cooke' T shirts for a fiver.

Just sayin'

Tony Vaughan, urggghh I've come out in a cold sweat thinking about him in a City shirt...

It was irresponsible of the OP to mention these players but now that he has, I urge him not to forget about big Bob Taylor. The one we signed from Gillingham.

Also, OMFG, how shite did we become? I remember people pretending to think that Terry Cooke was the dog's bollocks and we got one over on the rags when they let him come to us.

It's expected to be out at the start of May. Thanks - I'm hoping to make it available as a pre-order subscriber edition, but details of that haven't been sorted yet.

I won't forget about Bob Taylor, but he won't be in the book other than as playing for Gillingham. The book's a series of interviews with every one of the 1999 playoff final squad and so I needed help tracking down Cooke and Vaughan - both of which I've now managed to speak to. :)

Unfair.

At the time Cooke was a breath of fresh air,for me,he rekindled some faith that all was not lost and that we wouldnt be destined for footballing obscurity.

If nothing else, many of that team posessed more than their fair share of the 'Bulldog spirit'.In a perverse way,i enjoyed some of those 'bad' times as much as the awesome displays of today.

Well even if some blues disagree, I apprechiate the effort that they put in when they were at our club.

I'm glad that city was the pinnacle of their career

Tony Vaughan inadvertently provided me with one of the highlights of those dark days in the 90's. I think it was Ipswich at home and we were losing two one deep into injury time. Ipswich were running the ball into the corner of the Kippax/North Stand when Vaughan lost his cool and took their forward out who was shielding the ball. The Ipswich fans all got up and started chanting 'off off off' pointing their fingers. At least half the Kippax stood up and joined in with this. Absolutely superb humour and summed up the frustration of how poor we were in those days.

Michael Brown went on to better things, although I can't think of any others who did. The five months between boxing day 1998 and the May Play Off Final are a defining period in our club's history. The time we finally turned the corner.

That is what made our club what it is today, obviously coinciding with other factors, but
1999 was the biggest factor.

Looking at players like bishop and horlock on twitter, passionate about city, not to mention goater etc makes me happy that players loved out club, can't imagine yaya, kolarov, silva et al being as passionate when they retire
