but now around my way they are taking on and im fucking fed up of not working,so im thinking of going with them, just wondered what other peeps views were?
wondered wether they look after there people an that ....
Staff at my local Tesco seem to have been there forever so not much staff turnover suggesting they treat them pretty good.

Im currently on my summer break from Uni and wanted to get some work for the break. Had my first day with Tesco on Saturday, handed in my immediate resignation the next day.

It was in the bakery, I was told I would be packing bread for 2 hours in the morning, the rest of my day would be spent on the shop floor.

I went in and spent the entire day packing bread. It was like a sweat shop. Relentless. Now im not afraid of hard work, Ive done a few shitty jobs during gap years to pay the bills but this just took the piss. I was given the job on false premises. Now i am currently in the throws of starting a small graphic design company over the summer with the hope of building it up over the next year and after graduation pursuing it full time. I burnt the tips of my fingers and cut them to fuck in a day. i need my hands.

However the worst of it was the inbred nature I was warned about but didnt realize just how bad it had gotten. My friend got me the job there and after a couple of hours came into the bakery and informed me that my manager "would" but someone called Kerry, "wouldnt." Now, it took me three attempts to realize what this meant. My friend knows I have a girlfriend of over 4 years and we are extremly close and happy.

The reason for my confusion was that my manager is male and funnily enough I wasnt aware of his sexuality having only worked there a matter of hours. So after it finally clicking, I realized that my manager would bum me but some woman i never even saw would not sleep with me. That there was enough for me to hand my notice in straight away. Seriously cant stand that type of shit, being judged like a piece of meat. I seriously cant stand the inter relations they all have with one another in places like that.

So yeh if you fancy a bit of that, go and work in Tesco.

My brothers friend has just packed his supervisor job in at Tescos citing that they wanted him to work far too many hours , and the pressure was affecting his health.

I also know someone on the checkout at Tesco whos only been there six months or so and wants to pack it in ... she says people (bosses and workers) who were her 'friends' during the induction now treat her as though she doesn't exist.

I too went for interviews for jobs at Tescos as they were opening a new store , but they only appeared content to offer mainly part-time jobs on check-outs .... and i didn't even get offered one of those even though i turned up on time , said i'd work any hours , and passed their tests ..... women with kids mainly got offered the jobs , who appeared to have to 'fit' Tescos in with their domestic lives.

However if you can get in , then do it ...... any job is better than none in this climate .... although you may have to miss some City matches if you go there.

If you need money and it's the only job you can get currently, then yes.

Not like you can't leave if you find something better.

i know of a lad who worked part time for tesco.he was semi retired, house paid for and just did it for beer money and a bit of company really as he was a widower.he had been there about 5 years no trouble at all, always on time but one day was called into the managers office.Cant remember what led to it but it was really trivial.he was given a warning then told if in future he misbehaved again it could lead to dismissal and loss of his pension from tesco.this is when he told the manager to shove the job up his fuckin arse.his pension amounted to about 2-50 a week. i think he was escorted from the premises by security, and hes only 5 foot fuck all.

ha ha sven i think its just shop floor humour, i dont think he would have attacked you with a baguette or something
