I don't think people are dismissing what Tevez did for us last season. It's more what he has said/done since then.
For us to progress we need to be a solid team. Both on and off the pitch. There isn't a single blue out there who wouldn't want him in the team on his day and wanting to be here.
But unfortunately Tevez doesn't want to be here and this may have a negative affect on the team.

Watch Dzeko's celebrations and then watch Tevez's. One goes directly to the guy who made the assist, the other prances around like a clown with whatever prop he has hidden in his sock that day.
He'd only buy into the system if he had some of Dzeko's temperament. Loved what Carlos did last season, a sheer delight to watch when he's on song but his game is too much about 'me, Carlos'!

With so much football to be played and injuries always around the corner, we will be very thankful Tevez stayed at some point I can assure you.
3 games into the season, everyone healthy, no Champions League yet, no Carling Cup yet, no FA Cup yet and every saying let's toss out the golden boot winner.
Well I think we do need him this season. Beyond that, I don't know. Hopefully Balotelli can really emerge.

Carlos Tevez is a complete **** of the field with the way he tried to engineer his transfer.
On the field though the man is pure awesomeness he never stops running and can create goals out of nothing. For Christ sakes last year he tackled an opposition full back with a diving header, a FUCKING diving header. We would be mad to sideline him if he's still willing to put in that kind of commitment.

The question I think people should think about is
Would you like Tevez to play against us for one of our rivals?
I agree the way he has gone about things is poor but the reason about his family are good enough if true.
I for one will always be grateful for Tevez's help in getting us an FA cup and Champions league football.

For me the proof is in the pudding. We have no need to pre-judge him this season with regards to his perceived selfishness on the pitch - we will be able to see for ourselves how he fits into the system when he eventually plays several games for us.
For all we know he might have bought into our new style of play and will therefore be another positive outlet - both creating chances and finishing them - within our attacking line-up.
If, after a while, Dzeko, Silva, Nasri et al are screaming at Tevez and calling him a greedy twat on the pitch for not making/returning obvious passes then fair enough, but I'll reserve judgement until it happens.

You can't fault his skills or heart. It is his off the field antics that are the problem.
