I really hope thats a true quote from our gargoyle-looking friend!
Went down this morning and although there were not any players out I got the birthday present I had hoped for when Mark Bowen came straight over for a chat.
He had been talking with the ground staff for a while and it was clear that they were not too happy with the pitches. They had all been relayed and although the grass seemed ok from a distance it is in fact a little patchy and not as lush as it needs to be. A few more weeks at least which might just coincide with when they return from S Africa.
The reserves apparently might start off training at Hyde followed by some time at Sale RFC.
What can I say about what Mark told me? Not a lot really except to say I can't wait for the season to start. The prospects are ridiculously exciting. To an extent what you see in the press is close to it in all cases and definitely do not rule out any of the names being talked about. The next deal to be closed will be next week and I think we can all guess who that will be.
Little signs of action yet re players leaving either. Some interest of course but not anything like you might imagine.
Later today those who reported in will be out on the training ground and probably again tomorrow afternoon so I might pop down then for a look at who is on show.

Tevez vows revenge on Ferguson for “insult†as he signs for Man City!
July - 4 - 2009
Carlos Tevez is extremely angry with the way Alex Ferguson treated him and is looking forward to making him pay when he scores for Man City against his old team next season! A report in todays Mirror says: Carlos Tevez has branded Sir Alex Ferguson a “liar†- and vowed Premier League revenge on the Manchester United manager.
Tevez is set to be unveiled at Manchester City after turning down the chance to stay at Old Trafford.
And the Argentine hit-man blamed Fergie’s “lies†over his status in the champions’ squad after last year’s £30million signing of Dimitar Berbatov for driving him out of United.
Now Tevez, a huge favourite with the United fans, has promised to make Ferguson pay for the insult.
Tevez, who rejected the chance to stay at United even though the club met his £25.5m asking price, said: “Ferguson still believes I will be at United next season. He thinks I will return.
“But I know what I want and I know that Ferguson did not respect me as a player. Before Berbatov arrived in Manchester, Ferguson told me, ‘You will still be the starting striker, so be cool’. But he lied to me! That is why I know I will not return to United.
“What I want to do next season is score against United. I promise I will not celebrate in front of the United fans but I will shout in Ferguson’s face.
“You can be sure of that - and it will be one of the most beautiful things I have done in football.â€
He is not a happy bunny by the sounds of it! Could Man City really take over their local rivals and win the Premiership?
